Seriously, this is the best you've got? Contrast this to the scenes of Palestinians celebrating in the streets in the aftermath of 9/11/2001, or more recently the kidnapping of the 3 Israeli teenagers. I don't see these people whipping themselves into a fervor, and I don't see a single child among the watchers.

I know you don't see the irony here

Because of the US support for Israel.

I see nothing wrong with people witnessing their nation's willingness and ability to defend themselves.

My first impression upon coming here was that I would be embraced for being an American and ally but that was really not the case at all. The Jewish community here is highly restrictive and ostentatious to outsiders even American Jews. Of everywhere I've been in the world, Israelis are the rudest, unfriendliest people I've ever met as a whole.

That lends nothing to the conversation on the topic.

quote:

The first thing the country reminded me of in my first few days was the nazi Gestapo police state.

Now they are Nazis?

quote:

There are police and soldiers EVERYWHERE giving orders and telling people where and where they can't go.

They do and for good reason. They have been attacked a few times. Should they not have protection?

quote:

Israel is a very strict police state and not the "free" country that our country makes it out to be.

No they are not

quote:

There is no freedom of speech. It's a joke.

You are lying. Why? I have always been taught that if you have to lie in order to prove your point, maybe your point is not worth anything.

In 2011, there were protests. The Gov did not shut them down or shut them up. They didn't fire on them. So I ask again, why lie?

There was even a soldiers protest in 2006.

quote:

The Palestinians I met and talked with really just want peace and to end the oppression.

See, everything you state has a huge slant to it. You started that way, and continue to this point.

quote:

You do realize there is a wall between the West Bank and israel that lthe israelis built higher than the Berlin Wall right?

Yes. What does that have to do with anything? I wish we had a wall on our border. Does not prove your theory of Israel = NAZIs.

They have a right to protect themselves.

quote:

The Palestinians have to dig their own wells for water.

As did my father. Your point?

quote:

(Jews don't know much history of Israel since they've only lived there for 60 years give or take)

quote:

If Orthodox Jews see you driving on their streets, they immediately pelt your vehicle with rocks, eggs, tomatoes, and eggs.

You have a problem with their customs, don't go there.

quote:

basically told me to "frick off" a few times because I wasn't Jewish.

Has never happened to me, but ok.

quote:

The Ethiopian Jews for instance, who believe the exact same thing, are completely ostracized because they are African.

Again, you are not being truthful. When they migrated to Israel, 90% of the males had ZERO education. That made it harder for them. It would have made it harder for them in the US, UK, or most countries.

Second, you are willfully ignoring the steps the government took. Why?

quote:

The Israelis are hypocritical and no better than the nazis..

quote:

At least the Germans have learned their lesson and treat everyone in their country equally and with tolerance for all ethnicities and faiths.

Jewish kid killed in Germany

Racism... germany

Racism.. "we don't rent to foreigners"

Tuvia Tenenbom would totally disagree with you.

Then don't go there. If that's how you feel... stay home.

You don't have the right to tell them what they, as a people, do with their customs.

This is from a post that a guy made about their laws and customs on driving/working etc on the Sabbath.

He claimed they would do this to you if they saw you breaking those "laws/observations".

So I said observe them or don't go there.

Not to get off topic here...but if Israel really does enforce Shabbat on businesses and citizens throughout the country, I really don't see much difference between them and the other developed Middle Eastern countries that legally enforce customs of Sharia Law.......

People will turn out to watch all sorts of unusual events for entertainment purposes. It comes with being curious. And violence has entertained humans throughout history. I laugh at the people who claim outrage over others being entertained by violence. I guess they never watch television, movies, read books or newspapers.
