Honestly, I don't think you can blame Obama or Bush for pulling out of Iraq- the Iraqi government didn't want us there and if we wanted to pretend to be more than an occupying army we kind of had to listen to them-- furthermore, the American people didn't want us there after being sold on a quick and bloodless war to eliminate an existential threat after which we would be greeted like we were marching into Paris in 1945 there was literally no way to sell people on staying who had already been lied to multiple times on the same issue-- there is not a President in modern American history who could have kept more than a token force in Iraq post 2011 without riots in the streets.

We took out Saddam for ridiculous reasons, upsetting the delicate power balance in the Middle East, and this is what happened.

There is one question I raised during the whole thing and no one has ever been able to answer it.

In real time... Saddam either had WMD or he did not.

If he did not, why did he ban inspectors?

He didn't ban the inspectors, weapon's inspectors were on the ground right up until we advised them to leave prior to the invasion.

He hassled them pretty hard about some sites which likely had some old shells left over from the Iran Iraq war but almost definitely didn't have a current program.

My counter has always been- why if Saddam had WMDs didn't he use them- he had nothing to lose, he and his sons were on the run and at best they were going to face life in prison.

the left....let's elect a completely unqualified dude simply because of the color of his skin, 'cause it will make us feel good and oh, so righteous. And let's not admit that this SOB has no clue what he's doing, has no clue about history, and will gladly blame anyone and everyone for current problems except his useless self, 'cause he's clueless and too self-centered to know any better.

Are you referring to Daniel Pearl?

While I don't disagree with you that the militants are to blame, they have gotten much bolder and 'in your face' than ever because they know they will not face retribution. And yes, I will take Bush's or Cruz's or anybody else hawkish attitude and actions ANY DAY over the pathetic excuse of a 'president' we have now. The west is more in danger now than ever from those followers of the religion of love!

There were a number of beheadings within Iraq in the mid-2000s, very similar to this one.

Please, please tell me how said attitudes made us safer? Or is it just that talking tough means more to you than actual concrete results- that image is more important to you as a conservative than results.

It's not just tough talk, it's tough action too. Those bastards in the Middle East understand nothing but force. I have no doubt that Cruz would bomb them back to the Dark Ages, which is an action they would finally understand. And for that, he gets my vote!

You and anybody that blames GWB is full of shyt as a Christmas turkey.

GWB was president when radical Islamist murdered 3000 people on 9/11.

If we hadn't of had a media trying to demonize our president because he had an 82 percent approval rating ( the most important thing to these leftist bastards is the appointment of radical judges to the courts, so the uber presidency is a must ) and the left had to bring him down, irregardless of the country.

We should have destroyed every country that harbored those terrorist the first time, all you pussy pacifist are responsible for ISIS.

Clinton ignored the threat.

GWB was given a mantle and he faced it and did his job, irregardless of the lying media and the lying left wing commies.

Now pussy Obama comes in, tells the world we tortured people ( LMAO ) gives up Iraq without a status of forces, brings about government change in Libya and Egypt without a plan, thus the radical muslims in those two states are now part of Isis and Obama tried to install the Muslim Brotherhood as leaders of Egypt.

The facts are all you guys that undermined the U.S. are the reason these ignorant bastards are in power in an Islamic State now.

Ignorance is bliss.

They were in Iraq with unconditional access for about a year before the US asked them to leave right before we invaded. They didn't find anything and there was nothing to find. It was during this time that the UN inspectors were asking for locations that we claimed to "know" where WMD's were stored.

I think they found a few missiles that could go over 100 miles.. but they would have to have the worlds smallest warheads and have a tailwind.

Totally wrong. You are either too young to remember what happened in real time while you were watching live or you just read revisionism. The inspectors were constantly let in and then expelled.

Saddam who under any rational evaluation was a secular and moderate (relatively speaking).

He was a paragon of moderation and virtue.Look at all the neat things he did, like helping to design a new portable wood chippper and leading the experimentation to discover new diets for zoo animals. He calmed down the jihadists in Dujail, practiced an Arab version of urban renewal in Anfal and Halabja, created job opportunities for firefighters in Kuwait, convinced the Barzani clan to be quiet, found a way for the Marsh Arabs to finally leave the swamp, and so much more.
All in all the right person for Sir Winne to admire.
