These assholes are serious about the "submit or die" stuff so I'd like to send them to meet Allah personally rather than have thousands more US citizens get killed by them.

I don't think this will spill over to the US. These guys will be contained within the region. But, of course, the innocent civilians will certainly be slaughtered by the bushel.

And this is a problem isn't it? Shea's and Sunni's can't get along with each other and yet we try to play sides in a battle that is not winnable.

The US military, expatriates working abroad, US embassy workers, tourists, etc. are all targets of these guys because they're all from The Great Satan.

No there isn't. Radical Islam wants to control the entire world and they aren't afraid to tell you about it. Do you even hear or read their own materials and statements.

Just a completely f'ed up situation all around.

The only way these countries will ever pull themselves out of the mess they're in would be to sustain enough economic development to the point where the vast majority of people cease to see the point in all this religious violence. They would rather live their lives in peace and prosperity, and they would be more than happy to nip in the bud these extremist groups who threaten that peace.

The problem is that there is so much corruption and mismanagement embedded in the political culture that sustained economic development is unlikely, even if there weren't all this violence.

What region? SW Asia? They're already stretching from Damascus to Baghdad - how is that, in any way, contained?

They're going to get contained, all right, when they get into it with the Sh'ia militias and Iran.

Or, the working title I'm using, Iran-Iraq 2: Electric Boogaloo.

That's what Obama's inaugural apology for America's greatness tour was all about when he entered office. He went around the world apologizing for our former transgressions, bowing dutifully to each Arab King and dignitary and this was suppose to foster peace and respect. These types don't respect anything but brute force.

Counter-insurgency training doesn't help when you have to start fighting a conventional war.

French troops were never the problem. They are usually tough as hell and fight hell.

Go look at Dien Bien Phu and how many gooks they killed. Troops fought very well. But it was their dumbass leadership who stuck them in a valley to begin with.

The problem is and has been their leadership in the upper ranks and in the government.

True, but look at what's happening in Europe. Look at the way politicians and others walk on eggshells to keep from offending these psychopaths. Look at how the American Left made excuses for Major Hassan's murder at Fort Hood. People are scared to death to criticize these monsters either out of fear or simply because they don't want to seem "intolerant."

The same Turkey who has been trying to be a bigger and bigger player in the Islamic world since getting shut out of the EU.

The same Turkey who is scared shitless of the Kurds forming their own state because there are a bunch of Kurds in the oil-rich eastern parts of Turkey.

Oh, BTW, it's the opposition to the Turkish government alleging this and it's being reported in the international press.
