Our hiring system seems to give too much weight entertainers rather than competent executives.

Is that a product of allowing the least among us to have too much voice in the hiring process?

Don't blame the candidates, blame the HR department.

Universal suffrage is a bad idea.

The only people who should be able to vote are the following:

Employed in the private sector
Active military
Veterans
Retirees
Business owners

Might as well be Socrates' own words, he warned of demagogues and pure democracy.

The problem is the criteria for being allowed to vote and who controls that criteria.

A basic literacy test would be a fair compromise

Why not go back to the original requirements in the constitution.
The main requirement was land ownership

No. The system is only as good as the people. We get the kind of government we deserve.

I would like someone to have a good credit score to be eligible to vote.

That is a step away from a social credit score, but you do you.

We already have a social credit score.

That was never in the Constitution. In was a requirement in less than half of the states in 1789. To the best of my recollection, it was required in five states, though that may be off by one state in either direction.

You could have the best criteria in the world but it comes down to who is counting the votes

Not sure we have to go that far.

There does seem to be a correlation between the quality of the hiring manager and the quality of the candidates selected.

no, just trying to set it low enough to let a few dumb people vote. I am very egalitarian that way

Any idiot can own land. Voting should be done by those with skin in the game.

Good point. That was an exception.

Entertainment wasn't the big driver in that one, fear was.

But for Covid, Biden would not have won.
