Is the current US House scenario like the Texas State House?

Rs are in the majority in both places, but the Ds seem to wield the power because they stay unified and horse trade for the speakership.

That is what got Paxton impeached and that seems to be a possible answer to the cluster that is DC.

Unity in politics is powerful and our side sucks at unifying. We're too individualistic to unite for many common purposes. I give the dems all the credit due to them here. They're also smart enough to realize that small incremental shifts gained by small wins pays off in the long run. Then they get the big wins with Obama and the pace picks up quickly as does the radicalization. Our side also sucks in this capacity. It's all or nothing (we let perfect be the enemy of good)... frankly, we deserve nothing with that mindset. Take the wins where you can get them and when you can get them. The dems have and everyone can see the results. Prepare your arse because them dems are going to bend us over nationally. California is going nationwide and it won't be stopped. It is just a matter of time.

I think, yes it’s the same premise.

I think that democrats are good at unifying bc at heart, they are collectivists.

I think that what I think of as RINOs are also “big government” just the kind of big government that likes big business and military stuff. Still. They are collectivists, and think like collectivists. That’s why they find common ground with Democrats. At their core, they are no different from each other and are petrified of individuals thinking for and taking care of themselves.

Actual conservatives (in my view) are individualists. Do what you want, just don’t make me pay for it and don’t hurt anyone else while you’re doing it. Actual conservatives think (again in my view) that the only people that the law needs to protect and make decisions for are people who cannot defend themselves- children, disabled, etc.

By definition conservatives are not collectivists and all have different ideas about what the best outcome may be and are willing to agree to disagree.

We’re a nation that was built on individual freedoms and trust in individuals to know what’s best for themselves, which has become overtaken by collectivists. Who think the epitome of genius is doing exactly the same thing as the everyone else and never asking why.

I don’t know what the fricking solution is to fix it- but I do know that turning into a bunch of collectivists ain’t it.

There are two factions in the GOP. Essentially MAGA and the other GOP. It's kinda you guys and Ronbots. I said you need us. You see what can happen when you don't get us. Right, the GOP is not unified.

Dems are good at unifying AND they have the media on their side. When the media is trumpeting your unity and/or casting aspersions on any cohesiveness of the opposition, it helps your cause greatly (especially if you are an egotist).

Negotiation and compromise is not collectivism.

Doing something because everyone else is doing it, is exactly collectivism

There is at least one distinction I think:

The US House Republicans appear to be at least somewhat genuinely conservative (initially) but end up being corrupted by the beltway system over time.

The Republicans in the Texas House were apparently democrats in sheep’s clothing (masquerading as republicans).

A lot of them were Bush republicans. Take that as you will.
