That is complete and utter bullshite. Do you think a company creates a product without recognizing a demand/consumer need first?

This happens hundreds of times per year.

I mean, just sayin.......

Now, if you're asking, "Do I think companies create products that they don't believe there will be demand for when it hits the market", the answer is "no".

Alas, they aren't always right. Hence, the word "believe"

Maybe next week Rick Perry will talk about beanie babies.
I don't even really like Perry.

I think he's a light weight.

I simply was amused by your shallow understanding of what you are talking about.

It is literally what causes a recession. A huge malinvestment on a national scale, where companies vastly misread huge markets.

2007/08 market for houses, for example.

I don't think so. I'd nominate Barack Obama...well he wasn't appointed secretary, but he plays one on those "special nights" with Reggie and Rahm.

I thought he was trying to reference Say's Law, which would still make it so that he doesn't know what he's talking about.

You said all of that in response and ended up saying nothing at all. You admit a company recognizes a demand before they create a product.

Do producers overestimate demand and thus lose on their investment? Sure. But getting a product to the market without demand almost never happens.

He's blowing smoke up their asses but I actually don't see that much of a problem with that statement. Why do you think LNG production and transport is so huge now?

Really not that controversial of a statement unless you are an academic dipshit who enjoys splitting hairs over demand vs. quantity demanded.

Apparently it is YOU who doesn't understand supply and demand.

If you have multiple sources of energy available and once source has been priced out of the market by artificial means (government regulations) and then you remove those regulations thereby allowing producers to produce at a price that is cheaper than the alternatives then of course the demand for that product will go up.

Allow me to simplify so that liberals can try to keep up.

Let's say Bob grows apples for a living

Now let's say Tom grows Kiwis for a living.

Now, let's say apples are cheaper to grow and distribute, but the government believing that kiwis are better decides to put a prohibitive tax on apples. making apples cost 3X as much as kiwis.

Now obviously Bob is going to lose customers to Tom over this, as planned. Because who wants to pay 3X more for their fruit?

How is Bob going to react to this lack of demand? Of course he's going to cut the supply. So we can say that the government regulations resulted in a lack of apple supply, yes?

Of course we can.

So, if we then remove the regulations Bob is going to start growing apples again, And what happens if Bob starts growing apples again and they are cheaper than Kiwis as they were before the regulations? Oh thats right the supply of apples at the store creates a demand for those apples

What he said.
Hey FunroePete, it seems Governor Perry was onto something, making YOU the dumbest poster of the day.
You fricking moron!

no I didn't do any such thing. Recognizing demand implies that they can always measure the demand even if sometimes wrong

But that is not always the case. Everyday products come out that consumers were entirely unaware of prior to their existence. Try harder next time because right now you sound like an eighth grader who took half an economics class

You think you've schooled me, how cute. Is this mental gymnastics you're trying to attempt stem from defending Perry? If so, you're just as bad as a leftist you claim to hate.

Perry's a light weight and there's a half decent chance his understanding of economics isn't that much better than yours

i had already said perry is a lightweight so you saying i defend him simply indicates that in addition to your poor business acumen, you lack reading comprehension.

Hell no.

People my age usually remember James Watt on the 4th of July.
