Our Preacher dropped this on us last night at Wednesday bible study...

Mana
Amen
God
Amen

He's been on this series about how America has been lost in the hustle-and-bustle of these modern times; this is simply one of his prophecies that there would be signs before a shift...

I think he's on to something.

I think any of you that believe these scum bag politicians are sent down from the heavens to deliver us poor folk from the evils of life deserve to be parted from your hard earned money.

Work hard, save money, raise your kids and keep fighting the good, moral fight. Pass that onto your children. That is going to be that lasting legacy for this country, not Trump nor Obama.

You poor souls who hate religion are the mirror images of that which you mock.

You chase a moral society which shuns religion just as a foolishly as a surveyor who shuns trigonometry. One cannot exist without the other. Name a lasting civilization in all history that has evolved without a religious basis.

Or, better yet, start your own society where nobody who professes a belief in a Higher Power, a Devine Creator, or a Messiah is welcome - or tolerated. Good riddance.

You can nitpick any number of rituals from any religion all you want - and that is OK, however meaningless and easily ignored. But to just arrogantly dismiss all religious expression such as you and many others on this site do demonstrates purposeful ignorance and ugly hubris.

Depending on your denomination, he can certainly be God"s Will. But I doubt God qould actively intervene by delivering a political figure.

Complete nonsense. Religion is the worst idea we've ever had. We don't need the maniacal ramblings of primitives to have morality, and it'd be too easy to argue the opposite.

If you want to have your religion, feel free to do so, but don't get pissed when someone else calls you on it.

Or, maybe start your own society where criticism of religion is not permitted.

This will need further elaboration. If you morals don't eliminate the evil then it won't help. But otherwise I agree

If you don't like religion, that's fine, but don't Gateway upset when someone doesn't just kowtow to your anti-religion rhetoric.

Cuts both ways.

ETA: For the record, OP is out to lunch.

Religion in and of itself is not bad. Using religion as a means to control and dominate people is bad, as is forcing it on others.

Even worse is a society where religion is outlawed/completely shunned. Societies like that get you mass murderers like Pol Pot, Stalin, Hitler and Mao. When you have people believing that there are no consequences for their actions in the next life (or however you want to word it), it is way too easy to completely disregard the sanctity of human life.

Modern western civilization wouldnt be what it is had it not had a foundation in judeo-christian morality.

This little tangent started because someone got pissed about a negative comment on religion.

Religion is only good when good people cherry-pick from it.

Those societies were largely enabled and influenced by dogmatic views and behaviors. They developed their own religions to control their populations.
