Is this the best he could find for the head of DWF? No. But let's face it, that office is where you put political hacks.

How dare you besmirch the good names of Charlie Melancon and Jack Montoucet!

So we should prepare for Jindal’s third term?

Nah…just more like a right wing version of John Bel Edwards. Maybe a right wing version of Huey P Long.

I hope I’m wrong, but rather than trying to de-centralize the power of government, like any real conservative reformer in Louisiana should support, Landry will likely use every bit of power at the bully pulpit to force what he wants.

Jindal did the same for a bit, but then just got disinterested.

The voters picked Landry because he’s close to Trump. Makes sense we get a bunch of Trump people. I’m cool with that.

He would have had to announce to be a candidate for President like 9 months before his reelection to Governor.

This could be an easy fix if Louisiana synced its terms for the state legislature and state offices on the non Presidential Federal cycle. So Governor would run at the same time as Congress and sometimes the senate, but not the same time as President, Congress and sometimes the Senate. Florida, I think, is on this cycle.

It would take a constitutional amendment to change it though.

If passed they could shorten Jeff’s 1st term to end January ‘27, he would have to run for reelection in ‘26. Opening up a 2028 Presidential run, while Governor with 2 years left on the term.

Also, moving elections to this cycle would eliminate the ability of some politicians to run for larger congressional offices while elected to state offices for one cycle. Now with our off year elections, state legislators can take a stab at various Congressional and Judicial elections those election years.

You’re telling me the best he could do was a 26 year old with no biology, ecology, wildlife, or law enforcement background?

Not defending the hire per se, but it’s absurd to think that it’s anything other than an administrative position. As with all executive departments.
