Is judging someone because of their IQ an example of bigotry?

IQ is as "physically inherent" as say skin color or sexual orientation. What we see repeatedly however is that people are assumed to be less worthy if they have IQs that are not all that great. To me, this is a problematic and troubling trend because to be human is not solely to be of the mind but of the chest, of the soul. People that may not be great in an educational setting are still important members of society and they should not be brushed away because they are "dumb".

I don't hold it against you, honestly.

The (Other) Parable of the Talents
quote:
There are frequent political debates in which conservatives (or straw conservatives) argue that financial success is the result of hard work, so poor people are just too lazy to get out of poverty. Then a liberal (or straw liberal) protests that hard work has nothing to do with it, success is determined by accidents of birth like who your parents are and what your skin color is et cetera, so the poor are blameless in their own predicament.
I’m oversimplifying things, but again the compassionate/sympathetic/progressive side of the debate – and the side endorsed by many of the poor themselves – is supposed to be that success is due to accidents of birth, and the less compassionate side is that success depends on hard work and perseverance and grit and willpower.
The obvious pattern is that attributing outcomes to things like genes, biology, and accidents of birth is kind and sympathetic. Attributing them to who works harder and who’s “really trying” can stigmatize people who end up with bad outcomes and is generally viewed as Not A Nice Thing To Do.
And the weird thing, the thing I’ve never understood, is that intellectual achievement is the one domain that breaks this pattern.
Here it’s would-be hard-headed conservatives arguing that intellectual greatness comes from genetics and the accidents of birth and demanding we “accept” this “unpleasant truth”.
And it’s would-be compassionate progressives who are insisting that no, it depends on who works harder, claiming anybody can be brilliant if they really try, warning us not to “stigmatize” the less intelligent as “genetically inferior”.

Dumb shaming? Yeah, it's just one of many ways people don't want to tolerate others. Everyone does it to one extent or another, but the hypocrisy of the left in this regard is fascinating due to how much emphasis they put on "tolerance".

Just because someone has a low IQ doesn't mean they're a bad person. It just means they can't be a brain surgeon.

So for example, Apple discriminates against low IQ right? Really any successful company discriminates against low IQ. Just like the NBA discriminates against shorter people. The hypocrisy from the left about workplace discrimination is always comical.

IQ isn't real according to leftist (unless it is to get a violent murderer or rapists a lighter sentence, then IQ becomes very real and very important).

Yeah, it was pretty good. Thought about posting it here but the response would just be "gubmint did it" and if you point to the lack of a similar signal in Europe "they don't have blacks." This board doesn't have a large opening book.

IQ is overrated as a measurement.
I really don't feel that I'm smarter than 99.9% of the population.

Asking about IQ on this board is like asking a veterinarian about eating meat.
