Is it ISIS or ISIL?

Why does everyone call the group in Iraq, ISIS...but the President and some, but not all, of his underlings, call it ISIL?

It is not a conspiracy. The last "L" is basically the englishing of the "S."

because the people using ISIL don't want the dumbed down public seeing the link between whats going on in Syria and whats going on in Iraq. L = Levant, S = Syria. Both reference the same group but most people won't dig deeper. We were actively funding this group to fight Bashar al-Assad. And we were probably funneling ISIS weapons from stockpiles captured in Libya through the Benghazi consulate.

while it is true the public is dumb and the Syria comment is probably true, the "S" doesn't mean "Syria."

yes, i did. while al-Sham can include Syria, the "S" doesn't stand for "Syria." this isn't confusing.
