NASA, under the most conservative of estimates, is estimated to have paid itself back in a 7 to 1 ratio. Under the most liberal, it's hundreds of times over. Just about every major piece of technology these days can likely be traced back to the Apollo missions when they tried to miniaturize machines these astronauts needed on board to keep them alive, but also small enough to get off the Earth. Your about money is moot and absolutely retarded. No telling what kind of new goodies we'll get by going to Mars. It's going to pay off, and big.

NASA has been proven to be the biggest waste of money in the history of the world. That's been proven by every study ever done.

There. Now we're even.

But NASA's doing that right now, whether you know it or not. Why wouldn't the biggest journey in the history of mankind accelerate this?

How old are you? 12?

Here's the link, you dickhead: LINK
quote:

MRI concluded that the $25 billion (1958) spent on civilian space R&D during the 1959-69 period returned $52 billion through 1970 and will continue to stimulate benefits through 1987, for a total gain of $181 billion.

So in the very least, 7.24 to 1 payout.

So they're just lying on how much money they're making? What the frick are they going to do with all that extra money they claim to be making? You're an idiot.

Yep. They've been lying for decades to get more funding. That's why they invented GW models, you moron. I've been studying GW since 1996. NASA faked the models to get money.

They are exploring different fuel sources for the manned trip to Mars. They are even considering using limited nuclear propulsion to escape Mars' gravity to return to Earth.

In addition, they are considering setting up a limited 3-D manufacturing center on the moon to be able to build the ship that will go to Mars.

Oh, I forgot, you and the rest of the people here are world renowned climatologists. How silly of me.

Yeah, I've heard about this. 3-D printers are really a game changer for traveling the solar system, since as long as a planet or Moon has the basics, then we can make almost anything we need there without adding more weight to the fuel load.

Now to just get that damn Moon Base!

I was surprised when I heard how far along they were with several ideas and the plans to achieve them. I believe we will see plenty great developments out of this project.

So, global warming doesn't exist? The planet has stayed at the exact same average temperature for millenia?

Here's what folks like Zach are really telling us:

"I'm old and retired, and I won't be here much longer, so I don't really care about future generations. Yes, my generation was enhanced by technlogical inventions attributable to NASA, but I don't care about future generations. Screw them, I'll keep my tax dollars".

It's this mentality that has corrupted much of the GOP members in Congress these days that are of the same generation of Zach. Remember, his generation has also brought down banks, etc. His generation has basically said, screw the youth.

Upvoted.

It's absolutely criminal how we have neglected NASA and just left it to rot. So much incredible innovation and science has come from NASA and many of the technologies we enjoy today are here thanks to concepts developed by NASA. It's absolutely criminal how we have neglected the agency. We should've put a man on mars a decade ago. NASA needs a shite ton more funding and if I were president, I would direct as such to them like a hundred billion dollars a year or more.

But no, we'd rather spend it all fighting useless wars in the Mideast losing countless lives, endangering our status in this world and appeasing and coddling hoodrats and poor white trash with section 8, welfare and food stamps. It's embarrassing what our spending priorities are.

I don't know about the rest. But I've been studying it for decades. How long have you been examining the data and the critiques?

Same with my wife. We live at the end of a fairly long road. UPS and FedEx are up here four or five times a week.

But we still have to go to the US mailbox to get the bills and the magazines.
