I like what he's doing. But it really does come off as being dictatorish.

So I'm really hoping that after a while he tells congress "see how all this is working out? Good stuff right? Now make it the law."

The previous administration really set the precedent for the widespread use of executive actions

Why? Right now he's basically just reversing some of the garbage of the previous admin that was passed via EO's.

The overuse of Executive Orders should have been curbed long ago.

Using EO to enforce the laws is one thing. Using them outside the intention is an issue.

I have not seen one outside of what the intention is.

To my knowledge, every one has been appropriate (i.e., executive directives to agencies relative to existing laws and regs).

Not really. Most of them have either wiped away what Obama did and simply put us back to enforcing the law.

Some are nothing more than stating the stance of the White House on certain issues.

And a few are nothing more than using the powers the same as Obama. Sorry, I have no problem with him using EOs the way Obama did. Pandora's box is open. Not like the next Demo President will close the box.

So far, all I've seen are actions undoing Obama's shite or taking care of things that need immediate attention because it has been neglected for the last eight plus years.

Then it's very likely you don't understand Trump's EOs are basically undoing Obama's EOs, aka reverting back to legislation.

The last 2 admins used executive orders like mad. How is trump coming across as the dictator?

Most of the EOs he has signed have boiled down to "Effective immediately, XYZ agency will begin enforcing the law".

Not sure how that is dictatorish.

So far he has done what he said he would do, if elected.

Elections have consequences, just ask Obama.

Normally I would be with you since EOs became synonymous with thwarting the laws passed by the legislature.

But Trump has mostly been using the eraser removing Obama's over reaches. When he uses the pointy end he has been ordering the enforcement of prior laws.

So far, so good.

Do you have any idea what a dictator is? He is using the legal authority that has been long granted to presidents. A true dictator such as Castro would have first round up and had his political opposition shot. Having complete control of the govt, he could then write whatever bs legislation he wanted to grant himself absolute power, allowing himself to make whatever changes he wanted with the barrel of a gun.

Has Trump rounded up the Dems and some repubs and had them shot? No

Has he put a gun to Paul Ryan's and Mitch McConnel's head and said you will repeal and replace ObamaCare and build a border wall with Mexico or I will personally shoot both of you in public? No

Did he threaten to shoot anyone that opposes his nominees or his temporary ban on refugees? No.

It's unfortunate that he hasn't done this

Exactly. The classic case is Obama using executive orders to violate immigration law and to delay the negative impacts of his signature healthcare law. Bottom line: Obama used EO's in a highly partisan manner for political gain. And now that Trump is in power, liberal progressives are conveniently "concerned" about the impact of Trump's EO's. frick'em.
