I assume that you disagree with his assertion, TA. Is this correct?

If so, could you explain to me how one can be a 'fiscal libertarian', yet hold alternative views as to the use of force in other aspects?

I had a self-described 'anarcho-primitivist' ask me what author/book had the greatest influence on my outlook. I steered him towards the expanded version with Power and Market, haven't heard from him since.

I just disagree with the premise that you are either completely in agreement with a line of thinking or you aren't allowed to even approach stating that you may share certain views in that arena.

Look, I don't give a shite about Glen Beck and I have no clue what he is/isn't. I just think it's funny to hear someone post about how you can't be a libertarian unless you basically agree with every tenet of a true libertarian. It just makes me think about republicans and democrats.

You guys are fricking ridiculous. It's not about being "completely in agreement".

It's agreeing with the most basic, central principle of Libertarianism. IE the Non-aggression principle. That is the only belief one most hold to be a Libertarian, and it is also the one belief you have to hold in order to be a Libertarian.

You just remind me of the hard-lined posters on the far right and far left on this board. You just happen to fall into another box.

I know very few an-caps/voluntaryists who are not ideologues. It comes with the territory.

No, it's not.

Maybe so. They just all strike me as similar personality types that through different environmental and educational factors found themselves square in the middle of a certain ideology. But they're so stationary in that ideology that they literally share no common ground with anyone else. Every group has those types of people.

Libertarians are (or should be) willing to work across ideological lines with members of the Left and Right in order to limit government activity. There are plenty of overlapping causes that would fit into this context.

Expecting libertarians to be anything other than vehemently opposed to expanded government action is extremely unlikely.

Your concern was brought up by someone else earlier, and it was answered.

There is just one principle at the core of libertarianism, without believing in this one principle it would be impossible to be a libertarian. You act as if libertarians are listing off the grand list of tenets to follow, it's one principle. This one principle sets up an environment that allows ultimate free choice. You really have no idea what you're talking about.

Not really. I take those little tests people post on the board and usually come out on some side of the libertarian zone. I don't share this non-aggression principle and have never purported to. I'm an economic policy voter that is a big proponent of individual choice when those choices present no negative externalities. But josh telling everyone who is and isn't allowed to call themselves a libertarian just strikes as being very similar personality wise to others on the far right and left.
