obs and wages...the only issue that matters at all to anyone who isn't a member of the capital class...If Trump can deliver on that front...no one in his party has been able to in my lifetime....than I am all in and have said so since last July....and I truly think that in his heart Trump means to protect American jobs and wages...he is, and I am not being sarcastic, a blue collar billionaire. He didn't create his empire out of nothing...the backing that his father gave in the form of assurance to creditors is worth more in the development / construction industry than piles of cash...but his father did create a fortune through labor and Trump is, I believe, more comfortable in the company of electricians and plumbers than he is with bankers...he has said so himself. If he can bring back manufacturing to the United States and make it possible for blue collar folks to live a life of dignity without facing foreclosure and financial devastation if they get sick he will be my hero forever...and the issues that liberals get so worked up about will take care of themselves...you give a blue collar worker the sense that he isn't going to be out on the street any minute and he won't give a tinkers damn about where a man in a skirt pisses.....but make that some blue collar worker realize he is a couple of paychecks away from living under a bridge and all of a sudden that dude in a skirt is simply too much to bare...

Jobs and wages...thats all that matters to me...and Trump is the first national politician in my lifetime under the GOP banner who has talked about either in any terms other than tax cuts and deregulation....and while they have all cut taxes none of them have done anything but over regulate in some areas and under regulate in others....and it has not resulted in a stronger middle class.

America is at its best when the middle class is not scared it is going to die at the hands of brown people and ain't going to be living under a bridge any minute. The stress that the middle class has lived under since the middle 70's has seriously affected us as a nation....I don't care what party does it but if one can address that situation I will be their boy forever!!!!

Solid post

I will say this when it comes to the middle class and the problems it faces. Trump I believe realizes that these global companies have no incentive for a strong middle class in the US because they sell globally. Years ago companies needed a strong middle class in the US to buy their stuff but now they just cut cost and expand their market to make up the money.
I personally think it comes down to protection. Not all areas of the world are as civilized as the US but there is money to be made there. If those companies want the protection on the US military to operate in those areas, they need to give the US some incentives. Invest back in the people of this country or fend for yourselves.

Seriously...some of you have to know how incredible ignorant a person has to be to continue this idea that southern democrats prior to 1980 are the same democrats in the south today. You have to know that those were conservative democrats...at least on social issues....they loved them some pork projects though and still do....and there are very few of them left in the democratic party....even you God Reagan said as much when he said he didn't leave the party the party left him.

What party did you mention there, southern what? It didn't sound like southern republicans.

But isn't illegal immigration a problem?

Some what yes and I think we should address through immigration reform, make it quicker to get in when you're good so only the bad will come in illegally.

If we slow or even stop illegal immigration wouldnt that help the poor in this country

Would open up some jobs in agriculture, construction, lawn mowing, and dish washing. But overall I find most people can get hired in these industries even with illegal immigrants takin all our jobs.

Call everyone who disagrees with you racists even though you may disagree about something that has nothing to do with race.

Make sure to keep repeating how racist, sexist, misogynistic, homophobic and xenophobic they are. Say it minimum 20 times a day. Eventually it'll be true.

As a progressive, I think it is vital that we identify speech that is fascist/ racist/ sexist- and severely punish those who engage in it. I might also expand that to people who disagree with established science- like climate deniers. Their views should not be allowed in the public square. I think all men of reason can agree with that.

If you were sincere you would ask this on a majority-liberal forum.

Maybe, but he's been pretty reasonable with the debate he's gotten in this thread.

It's important to eliminate speech or expression deemed offensive or hurtful to the progressive cause.

No need for oversight or to shake up the status quo. There isn't a single thing wrong with union-staffed inner city schools that massive increases in funding can't fix.

Welfare is not an abject failure when it comes to lifting people out of poverty and making them productive members of society.

It's better for tech companies to develop foreign talent with an H-1B work visa than to develop domestic talent in the heartland. So we can never make any changes to the H-1B visa program ever.

Would a government that has no religious foundation protect religious freedoms and beliefs?

We protect things all the time that didn't exist during the conception of our nation. The statement holds no weight as religion was part of the evolution of civilization, but not necessary in the formation of a civilized world.

People should be forced to provide a customized good or customized service even if they don't want to or if doing so is against their religion.
