Just curious, any others out there like me, or am I alone in this?

Don't care. But going after Washington/Jefferson would be crossing the line bigly

I don't know if I'm a conservative anymore, but I didn't care much about them until Communists starting threatening them.

Not a big fan of the flag. I travel some rural areas in FL to avoid big city traffic. I've seen a couple on the road at a house.

I think stupid redneck and keep driving.

I have never said let me to go the racist statue today to remember how so and so tried to help us keep slavery in the South.

I don't even think about the statues.

At this point, it's pretty clear that it isn't about statues.

Agreed. I see a vast difference between the two.

Pretty much this. I'd care a lot more if they started to ban SCV or the Order of the Stars and Bars, but I have a natural affinity for opposing whatever communists want.

You don't have to "like" the monuments to think the cause of those wanting them taken down is asinine.

Remember that they told you they were stopping at racist white men that fought for the South that were displayed on public property.

Just keep that in mind as they tear out tiles in NY and call for Jefferson to be removed.

Keep that in mind when they call us paranoid.

Keep that in mind when they say "slippery slope" fallacy.

ok...and? There are plenty of people that believe 100+ year old statues are beautiful and give a city historical character

I respect it at memorials and battlefields as a symbol of American reconciliation . As an expression of Southern, white identity ,I scoff.

I personally would never stick one on my pickup or run one up a flag pole but I'm also not triggered by someone who chooses to do so.

My affinity for the monuments is not really tied to any connection to the confederacy, except sort of tangentially, I guess. I just think seeing layers of history in places is one of the things that makes them interesting. The desire to sanitize our modern world bores me to tears.

The whole thing is a manufactured controversy.

I have no particular affinity for these monuments.

What burns my arse is that one way or the other there are a thousand other things that are more important.

It's a nasty nasty distraction, designed to divide people for political purposes. It's sick.

One poor woman was killed last week and I'm sure more deaths incoming.

I don't like or dislike them but I think tearing them down is straight up fricking stupid.

I'm neutral. I just think the reasoning for removing is idiotic.

I think the flag is very good looking but is ruined by the trash that is typically flying it.

I think taking down the monuments is a waste of money but it isn't the attack on history people make it out to be.
