Illegal immigration from mex falls to lowest level since 2000, experts blame it on fear

This is an achievement, is it not?
U.S. Customs and Border Protection data show that in March 2017 agents made 12,193 apprehensions at the U.S.-Mexico border. It is the lowest number in at least 17 years, according to monthly southwest border apprehension numbers since fiscal year 2000.
Apprehension data is generally used as a metric to measure illegal immigration.
Experts have told us that Trump’s rhetoric has played a role in deterring illegal immigration, perhaps more so than his newly issued policies, which may take longer to implement on the ground.
"The recent dip in apprehensions likely does signify a trend, in particular as apprehensions typically rise in March and early spring," said Michelle Mittelstadt, spokeswoman for Migration Policy Institute, a nonpartisan think tank that researches migration.

The majority of illegals have been from Central American countries (such as Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala) for a very long time now.
But people still want to start a tariff war with Mexico over this. Trump and his goons are fighting the wrong country .

Hell yes. The reason many countries don't attack us is fear. The reason is fricking irrelevant. Keeping the Mexicans out is the goal and he is doing that.

Do you think they're crossing at the Canadian border?

They are aiding their illegal entry into the United States. Seen the pics of trains running with Central Americans hanging off the cars, with Mexican military escorts? Escorting them straight to the U.S. border.

What country are they coming through to cross our border illegally? Does their origin really matter? The issue is illegally crossing our borders, can you not understand that?

I guess those Central American illegals sure can swim!
Wait. Wait thinking like a goon, maybe they are crossing the Mexican border!
Build the wall.

Should we send Trump a set of truck nuts for the Tahoe?

The Mexican government is allowing the trafficking of humans from Central and South America.
Mexico has benefited from Nafta at the peril to USA manufacturing. They is whey we don't see as many Mexican illegals nowadays.
Building a wall, enforce labor and immigration laws, and rescind birth right citizenship.
If not, the USA will look more and more like the unstable latin american countries, in demographics, economy, and crime.

Its because Mexico is the land mass and border from which they are crossing into the US you fricking retard. This is not some witty retort you just made. Everyone knows not everyone crossing illegal is a mexican citizen
And to the OP, yes, illegal immigration dropping due to fear is a perfectly good reason to see this as an accomplishment. Anyone who tries to take the "moral highroad" fallacy and claim it isnt because they just shouldnt come out of pure respect for our border laws it simply being too childish to admit a contrary idea in something is positive.

Wait a minute, because lets say there were 230,000.00 Mexicans vs lets say 270,000 Non-Mexicans crossing the border Mexico shouldn't be held accountable.
What border do you think those Central Americans are crossing genius?

Yeah, if by a long time you mean since Obama.

It's even more amazing when you put it into the context that the national economy is doing well, including the always illegal friendly construction business. Immigration being down in lean years (like after 9/11 or 2008) is normal. Dropping while booming is very unusual.

Kind of what happens when your former president recruits illegals from Central America.

We should make it an immediate priority to send remaining jobs that weren't sent to Mexico to Central America to correct this gross injustice.

Just imagine what its going to be like when those policies are finally implemented and the wall is built.
