888,246 ceramic poppies standing in the moat of the Tower of London. One for each British soldier that died in WWI.

quote:

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

For Shelby, may you rest in peace. I didn't know you long but after listening to you talk about your 37 months as a POW in Korea I have nothing but the utmost respect for you.

I am proud to call your daughter my wife.

Anyone else in the Vets day mood?

To my dad who served in Korea and is at peace in rest. I miss him terribly. He talked me into following in his footsteps, other than marrying my wife it was the best decision I have ever made.

Happy Veteran's Day to all of you......

Here's to all the politards who know what it feels like to embrace the fact you might be a goner wearing the uniform. Another shout out to any parent who dreaded hearing a car pull up in the drive when their young'uns were in the sandbox. Never forget that we are the foundation for this country.

I've already been to two Veterans' Day ceremonies. They started last Thursday and continue through today.

I've missed more than I've attended.

West La. is very patriotic. The folks around here are very solid patriots. They make me proud.

Seeing the poppie thing here is pretty awesome. Everything the last week with sports has been about the vets as well just like back home.

All the soccer teams wore poppies on their jersey except one, and some of their fans booed and chanted during the moment of silence.
