If you want Trump to quit Twitter, you still don't get it

I keep seeing "it's not presidential" and other silliness.
You don't get it. People used to say that the way Reagan got around bad press and Congress is he took his case to the people.
Well. Good bad or otherwise, today, if you want to do that, going out and making a public speech isn't how.
I wish people would sit down and listen, but they don't.
Don't underestimate the effect that Twitter had on him getting elected.
You know what it does? Sometimes, he'll post something mildly controversial. The press picks it up just like they would have ten years ago and reports it as if he offered to cut off a baby's head.
The general public goes to the tweet. The non partisan ones read it like regular people. Their image of the press is then reinforced.
They also see diverse comments below the tweet. If it was just quoted on CNN, They'd be forced to see it with their editorializing.
I could go on. But, the bottom line is, sure. He lays an egg occasionally but, he's also interacting directly with the people and that drives the press Ape shite

Absolutely. People need to calm down.

Agreed. I enjoy the tweets.

There's a trust factor here.
The man has a sick addiction to shitposting on twitter and has been doing it for the past 6 years before he ran for President.
His words carry a shite ton of weight as POTUS now, words that are so heavy that they're literally mount everest in density.
We're not sure if Trump can keep the shitposting focused on harmless stuff that won't jumpstart some huge domestic/international crisis.
I literally hold my breath every time I read the latest shitpost on his twitter.

A sign of the times, more or less.

So you posted the same thing and had the same feelings when Obama started going on the Daily Show and The View?
Or were you part of the majority on here that said "Thats not presidential, you're not a celebrity, you're the president"?

Yes and he can't trust the media so he's bringing it straight to the people. Relax. How can you complain about having direct access to the President.

I wouldn't have a problem if he used it for bigger issues. Him taking to twitter every time a single individual says something negative about him is just petty. He should be using it to speak to the American people about how he is going to change things for the better by fulfilling all his promises (which is why I voted for him). That would be of much greater use, both now and for his future. It makes him look childish when he lashes out at SNL, a damn late night comedy show, because they paint him in a bad light.
Furthermore, I think the better idea would be to scrap twitter all together if these insignificant (opposed to the future of this country) personal rants are what he's going to use it for and instead do a bi-weekly youtube address to the nation like he did yesterday. Update the country on where things stand, where things are going, and how we're going to get there. That's presidential. Not throwing insults at a some comedians on a late night tv show or a newspaper over a single canceled meeting/interview.

What if Twitter suspends his account like they just did with several patriots?

Yes, and that is the major rub I have with it.
If you want to use it as a means to update the people on things, go ahead, but keep it at a grown up level, not a spoiled child.

I agree with all of this. I voted for the man, but I didn't do so because of his personal jabs he takes at people on twitter or because I thought it was "cool." Unlike a lot of people on here, I don't rubber-stamp an approval on everything he does as if he's the second coming of Jesus Christ. I voted for his policies and direction he vowed to take this country in, and I still believe in that. But this petty bullshite twitter stuff needs to stop. I mean what's next? A tweet about how the kitchen staff didn't cook his steak right?

It's not that he uses twitter, it's how he uses twitter. His use is much more reminiscent of a middle school girl than that of an executive, much less the POTUS.

I'm 100% you won't find any such comments from me because I wouldn't have ever thought that.
One of my great annoyances is having a President speaking where I can't hear him while some talking head stands there telling me what he's saying.
I wish Presidents interacted in informal settings more.

I'll disagree with OP.
People would like him to stop using Twitter every time he sees something he doesn't like, and getting into pissing contests with media outlets over who changed the terms of an interview is about as petty as it gets.
You'd think the President-elect, much like the sitting POTUS, would have more important shite to worry about than some Broadway actor that probably at least 60% of America has never heard of voicing their opinion to the VP-elect after a show.
It's become apparent from the initial meeting with President Obama that Trump doesn't have the first clue to actually being in public office and understanding what it means when his words actually have influence. You aren't just the face of the Trump brand, you're the leader of the free world, and if you're going to go on a 3 a.m. Twitter rant about someone saying something you don't like, well you'll have a bad time

Exactly. It's all the context and substance of what it is used for.

No you idiot.
I mean that I can't trust him to not make a majorly royal jackass of himself on twitter to the point where it causes some huge crisis that could hit critical mass.
Jesus christ, I voted for Trump and I'm still ecstatic he won but you will never catch me defending his every move like you people do.

Trump will fight the fight and take the case to the people. He will keep calling out and exposing the madness. There is a purpose to his madness.
