Wouldn't that Create more economic activity given the fact that a penny cannot be used to purchase anything?

300 dollars in the hands of 10,000 people each is more productive than a penny in the hands of 300 million people each

How about walk up to a person that supports Bernie and tell them to give you 5 bucks because it's your money too.

Except people don't keep their money in penny form.

Using that logic, once you take a penny from every taxpayer to throw into a lump sum, why not take another penny? They can't purchase anything with that single penny either, right? After that, why not another? And another. And another.

Bernie, is that you?

So you support hurting the majority to help a small minority? In your case, we should all pay out $1000 because then those 10,000 people could be rich and wealthy all their lives and have no problems. And I'm sure those 10,000 people would be picked responsibly because they've earned that kind of reward, right?

I get it, you use a penny because no one can argue against it. But where is your cutoff? When does it become unreasonable to take from everyone to enrich a few?

Also following up on your economic change comment, you can't be sure if and how the money will be spent, and there's no fair way to decide who does or doesn't get the money

What are you trying to make a point about anyway?

All I see is the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few, at the expense of the many. you're basically the government now.

Are you using this to show the flaws of taxation?

Well if this is true in theory, it wouldn't be in practice. The costs to collect, organize, and distribute would negate the theoretical benefit.

If I lose a penny, my net wealth and my purchasing power decline, however marginally. If a penny had literally zero impact on anybody's life, then you could logically take all a person's money as long as it was one cent at a time, and it would have no impact on their life.

Well given that you're in Southern California, people may be willing to try this. Why don't you organize a "penny drive" and try it out by giving it to a person. Or better yet, try a "quarter drive," and pretend that each person is 25 and you could have a larger sample.

But then again, if it does work in practice, then it would be harder to stick with the penny cut off since 2 pennies would also provide a benefit, and so on and so forth.

All we need to do in order to grow the economy is give money to the tourist bureau. The Lt. Governor says that for every dollar given to the bureau the return is two dollars.
So, let's give them 100 Million and we'll get back 200 Million.
