If you don't want to have sex w/a transgender person, you're like a racist or something

A new YouGov survey reveals that a quarter of Americans say they wouldn't be friends with a transgender person.

Fewer than a fifth would date one. Why the lack of acceptance?

Would you be friends with a transgender person? A full 27 percent of American adults on a recent YouGov survey said no. Even fewer—less than 20 percent—said they would be open to dating a transgender person.

The disappointing but unsurprising results reveal a sad truth about the transgender rights movement: Cultural acceptance has tended to lag behind formal recognition.

Friends - I wouldn't stop being someone's friend because I found out they were trans.

Dating - if I was dating someone and found out they didn't have what I thought they had down below or had surgery down below to change things, yeah I'd probably end it. If the goal is to start a family with your own genetics, there's no purpose in continuing a relationship with someone that can't have kids. There's nothing hateful about that. You don't have what I want and I want to find someone that does.

20% saying they would be open to dating a transgender person seems really high.

I get people being somewhat upset at the low # of people wanting to be friends with a transgender but dating a transgender person? I mean really?!?!

ETA: reread and it says less than 20% would date a transgender person. Anything above 5% would be hard to believe imo.

You can say you are repulsed by the thought of it, you don't have to hide behind genetics.

Probably because very few people want to date someone who is mentally disturbed.

Thank God Transgenders only make up less than 1% of the population so most of us will be spared from having to make such a difficult and life-altering choice.

I could actually see someone filing for a rape charge against a tranny that doesn't divulge there status prior to sex acts.

That's fair to say. I would be very uncomfortable.

You couldn't convict someone for rape there, but it could lead to the creation of a new law requiring trans people to disclose their gender history before sexual activity.

You absolute bigot. You don't believe a man can become a woman by scooping the flesh out of his wee-wee and pushing it inside himself?

Having sex with him would literally be touching penis skin to penis skin.

Transgenders are like the KKK. I've read that they exist. But I've never seen one IRL.

This is one of those times when people will say "yes" in a survey because they don't want to appear like a 'bigot' but in reality they'd never even consider it.

Realistically, 2-4% is probably accurate.
