How many people in the US own guns?

A few other current threads had me curious.
Notes
- Obviously the larger states have more gun owners than do the smaller states (that’s a duh/durr stat).
- The table would look differently if data were displayed by percentage of ownership, rather than raw numbers.
- The clear intangible: The data are for registered owners (2021) only.

Seems I need to move to Montana or Wyoming.

The infestation of Californians currently flocking to those two states could change the numbers.
But I feel ya; I’d definitely choose either of those two states over NJ and/or Hawaii.

do you have the data for this or source? I'm just curious to look into it.
Just curious because Texas for instance has 588k registered guns, yet has ownership of 45%. With an adult population of about 15 million, that would mean 6,750,000+ guns and they are estimating the total gun ownership with only knowing the registered?
Just seems like these numbers could be far off of reality.

Percentage of those people who have never committed anything resembling a crime with those guns?
Pretty damn close to 100%.

It’s waaay more than that. Although, that’s a good registered number.

They very well could be; wouldnt surprise me in the least.
Here’s the source: World Population Review

How do they know what percentage of the population owns guns if so many of them are not registered?
Kinda punches a big hole in the Democrats pie-in-the-sky gun registry plans.

That is way low. Almost everyone I know owns guns.

Not to mention the ones lost to boating accidents

The numbers are laughable. I don’t know a man who doesn’t own a gun

registered owners
WTF does that mean?

I don’t think there’s any question about that.

What does registered guns mean? We don’t have a National gun registry. Is that NFA registered guns like full autos?

The RAND Corporation published a 2020 study on adults who say they live with at least one gun. And every year, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms publishes a list of federally registered guns by state. It covers only a subsection of weapons — short-barreled shotguns, short-barreled rifles, and machine guns are included, along with silencers and destructive devices like grenades, but ordinary pistols or AR-15s are not.
So which states had the most such licenses in 2021? Here's the latest ranking, along with the RAND numbers, which reveal insights into America's love of guns.

You’re only registered when you buy a gun new from a store or vendor. Maybe it’s new registrations in 2021 only?

Guns you purchased through a background check. List totals are for only 1 year I believe.
