How about we talk about the weather instead? We don't have a board for weather.

I’m in my 50s so this doesn’t apply to me. All the way into my 40s I was always know as that political guy with friends and coworkers. Everyone always asked me questions about what was going on. Once social media got big and everyone got political and difficult to discuss it with I dropped out. I only discuss politics on here to troll. Never irl.

Eta: FWIW I wish OT would take the step to remove political discussions. I’m at fault as I realize that’s apparently what administrators want here and I add to the fire. Personally take away the thumbs up and down button, remove political discussion on OT and move to Political Board would make OT much more like that past, easier and better to post in. Yes I’m a hypocrite, but 90% of the posts here are political.

Dont care

Try to avoid it because it’s such a divisive topic these days. Can’t imagine dedicating actual emotion towards hating a president or governor or mayor

I vote one way or the other. That's how I express my opinions.

I'm 27, been following politics pretty closely since I was 20ish. I hardly ever express my political opinion in public. I usually don't have a reason to discuss politics with someone besides my wife

37.

I think about posting some opinions on FB or something. Engaging in some discussion. Then I think how I hate people that do that...

So yeah, I don't really talk about it.

Some of my favorites:

1. If you need to be in prison for more than 25 years, we should probably just shoot you instead. At that point you're just a burden and not really being rehabilitated.

2. Zero tolerance crime policies.

My dad was a local politician so I experienced town and Parish politics for the first 18 years of my life, so when someone tells me true voter fraud isn’t real I automatically know the they have zero idea about what their talking about. This site is the closest thing to social media I post on, so if someone doesn’t truly want to talk about political situations I just keep my mouth shut.

You may not be interested in politics, but politics is interested in you.

35yo - I enjoying reading or listening about geopolitics, but as far as American polotics I watch, listen or read little to none of it. All it seems to do is divide and enrage people. how many families do you know that dont talk to each other because of political beliefs

Most people in their 20s dont care because they arent paying shite for taxes. Once uncle sam comes knocking, they might get a little more interested in how much money daddy govt wastes and how much they always need

I was far more involved/obsessed with domestic politics and party at 20 than I was at 30, and that decline has continued

Beyond this board I don't really talk about it. I was always taught to never discuss politics and religion (ive had one on one conversations, but I am talking about in a public setting).

With that said, I do have a brother in law who always brings up his political and religious bullshite and there have been a few times where he wouldn't shut the frick up to the point at family gathering people leave because they don't want to hear his bullshite and I will start telling him shite because he doesn't shut the frick up.

But according to him, I am on a direct path to hell. He thinks when he is talking is is "spreading the word" so because I say shite then I am going to hell. He also hates Catholics and literally thinks all Catholics are going to hell. Not to mention, a part of me likes to get him to contradict himself.

Also, when he says something and I say "oh so you think this, but when it comes to that its different?"And he will completely deflect the question and start preaching about some other bullshite..

But the way this board is, I am sure there are people who will not associate with anyone who doesn't have the exact same views as them.
