Then maybe we should legalize murder also. Don't arrest anybody and we would save a ton of money.

Yeah but I know a guy or two that smokes weed and are successful and have a lot of money so that must mean all weed smokers are successful and have a lot of money

Or maybe winners are winners and losers are losers and weed has absolutely nothing to do with it.

why should a city the size of Houston not be able to selectively enforce what they deem important. Clearly the elected officials aren't scared they will lose their seat over this so there is support within their constituents

I know, right? Just like the successful people with a lot of money who also drink booze and gamble.

Hmm, I wonder what % of those successful people with a lot of money do that stuff in moderation, or only occasionally, and not everyday?

No, because illegal is illegal.

I do, however, see the benefit in decriminalization.

There's a difference between people who hit a bowl before they go into the office or smoke up during lunch and those who smoke daily after work-- you know just like there's a difference between having a glass of bourbon after you close out your work day and keeping a bottle in your desk to get you through said day.

The wake and bake people (who aren't on vacay, that's different just like a Bloody at 9:00 on Gameday isn't pouring a shot of Pappy into your morning coffee) aren't generally high achievers (though there are exceptions) but the after work smokers--especially in legal states-- are if anything more likely to be in high end jobs-- it balances Adderall for one thing.

I fail to see the difference, seriously. They appear to be the exact same thing. Both have no place in a legitimate work environment, be it in an office or out on a work site.

Seriously, what's the difference?

EDIT: Sorry, I flatly misread your statement. You're right, the guy who smoke before work or at lunch is the same as the guy who drinks before work or at lunch, and both are different than the guy who just smokes/drinks after work.

I read an article a couple of weeks back by a teacher in Colorado saying this is exactly what is going on with her high school students. She said after lunch, classes have become pretty useless for "learning".

You don't see the difference between people who smoke or drink after work vs. those who do it prior to or during work?

Those who smoke daily after work are just as stupid as the first group, only more cautious.

True. But replace weed with getting Trashed on Evan Williams or Mr. Boston or Everclear every night and the same thing is true.

That's the truth. I ran a very non-offical study at my high school but that was a direct correlation to being prescribed adderall and smoking weed.

At the time I thought it was cause of a relaxed attitudes towards drugs but really it was more about being able to come down and eat.
