Democratic members of the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Wednesday asking why the Department of Justice settled a major money-laundering case involving a real-estate company owned by the son of a powerful Russian government official whose lawyer met with Donald Trump Jr. last year.

Trump Jr., the president's eldest son, on Tuesday tweeted an email chain from June 2016 in which he entertained accepting damaging information from a "Russian government attorney" about Hillary Clinton as part of the Kremlin's support for his father's campaign.

That attorney, Natalia Veselnitskaya, represents the family of Pyotr Katsyv, the former vice governor of the Moscow region, whose son, Denis, owns the real-estate company Prevezon. The DOJ had been investigating whether Prevezon laundered millions of dollars through New York City real estate when the case was unexpectedly settled two days before going to trial in May.

You realize that attorney worked for the DNC, right? The Dems can ask her why she settled. She is on their payroll.

Also it is sensational bs to say a case "unexpectedly settled two days before trial". Cases settle all of the time right before trial. That is probably the most common time. Try again, man.

Oh, there's some super cool theories being floated around now but I can't post them - would take forever to explain and trumpkins wouldn't believe it anyway so... basically waste of my time.

I think both parties are shady as hell right now. It would not surprise me in the least that both parties were accepting foreign donations from Russia.

There's something fricky going on right now.

You are being one of the useful idiots. Settling before trial (especially right before trial) isn't unexpected or abrupt. It is common. Expected even.

Also...the Russian attorney that settled works for the DNC. So why don't the Dems just ask her why she settled?

Dude....you have got to stop chasing your tail. I know your thing is to call everything racist...and you are now applying that same intellect and discretion to Muh Russians....but you have to get tired of looking silly at some point, right? I mean...is it really that fun to troll?

So you're all in favor of the Legislative Branch of government attempting to usurp the Separation of Powers by making demands upon the Executive Branch?

What's next, asking the SCOTUS to report on why their decision in Roe V Wade has not been overturned?

How about the reverse? Why not have POTUS demand both Houses of Congress drop the phony witch hunt committees since there is zero evidence of anything?

That's not really the same comparison. All they're doing is asking for the terms of the settlement. I don't really see anything wrong with it.
