GM is doing exactly what Fiat Chrysler just did and what Ford is preparing to do and what some of the Jap/Korean imports are studying. Cutting passenger car lines. The only cars that still sell in volume are the girlmobiles: Altima/Camry types and those are even slowing at times. GM just cut Impala and the Buick cars. They will still import the tiny stuff from Swahili. The money is in Trucks and SUV's since that's where the sales are. Plus the profit margins are high. Malibu may even go at some point since the only way to sell is putting huge rebates on. Also the BMW and Benz cars that run like a striped ape still sell. As well as some of the Charger (Bros buy 'em) and the hot Challenger (necks like 'em with the big engines) lines. Men go for trucks and women buy SUV's. The GM SUV's are hot and the trucks are hotter. So boom bud. The future of American auto mfg is trucks and more trucks and SUV's. I ain't even sure Camaro and Mustang are gonna make it long term. All that small shite with Ford and Chey nameplates are make in Laos and Thailand and so is the little throw away crap cars from Toyota and Honda and Nissan. The big MFG's are making high volume, big profit vehicles and farming the junk out to TIMBUKTU.

So, letting low margin mfg be done in China while we get more efficient and focus on higher margin, cutting edge stuff?

Wow... that kinda sounds like sound economics

Because he can do no wrong. Pussy grabbing without consent, colluding with Russia, making orphans of children, paying hush money to hookers, cheating people with trump university scams... everything is perfectly fine.... Even commendable!

So, today Trump blamed the Fed for the GM job cuts.

Here's part of what he had to say:

"I'm doing deals and I'm not being accommodated by the Fed. They're making a mistake because I have a gut and my gut tells me more sometimes than anybody else's brain can ever tell me."

Now, you see, Trump is running this country by his "gut". We don't have to heed economists because Trump has a gut. We don't have to heed climate scientists because Trump has a gut. We don't have to heed experienced diplomats because Trump has a gut.

Anybody who thinks Trump's gut is a valid way to run this country is a fricking fool.

Knee jerk? Not really because remember he talks of subsides. They are subsidizing some car plants to keep them open. Trump is obsessed with employed Americans. And that is a good thing. He thinks and rightly so that he is popular with people with good, solid jobs. What I posted is true. I'm a consultant to the business and cars are done as a mfg base in America for the most part. low or no profit and plants are graded on profitability. The little ones still being peddled here will be made in Bangkok.

The only fools are you and your ilk. GM is failing for 2 major reasons.

1. They’re horribly managed financially, notice Ford didn’t accept Obama’s welfare. Why is that?

2. Obama basically had them bow to the federal governments mercy over the bailout (which was illegal btw) and told them what cars to build to fit the fake environmental hysteria of the left.

Problem is, no one wants to buy these shitty cars except for you weirdo furry leftist types.

Even bigger problem is that you motherfrickers are weirdos with artsy degrees and make $20k a year while thinking you’re intellectually superior.

Fact is you cannot afford the shitty cars that GM is being forced to build so therefore GM can’t sell them.

The guy that believes in the climate change narrative based on altered and fabricated data is calling other people fools. That's funny.

You must be from the future, because as of now the Mustang and Camaro far outsell the Charger/Challenger domestically. I say domestically because the Mustang is now sold globally (since 2015). If you add those numbers in its selling hand and fist over the other three.

The pussy grabbing I can agree with. Perhaps you prefer the feel of a male member. Colluding with Russia? Why drag Hillary into this? Trump has tried to his credit to collude with Putin for a safer, more prosperous world. It's rumored they can destroy every city in this land btw. However the leftists preferred the cold war. Do you? I don't understand your "making orphans of children comment since the Trump admin has been very proactive in fighting the biggest killer of mom and dad age people in the wild spread of opium. And is relentlessly trying to stop the influx of ms-13 drug dealers invading our country. He has also greatly increased employment in urban America and is trying to institute prison reform to put at risk black children in home environments. Surely you are not against those things. Are you pro MS-13? Pro Opium addiction? Pro black on black crime by unemployed AA drug dealers? Pro 50 year sentences and dad removed for life from his family over MJ possession? I've paid sex workers for employment and supported the industry. Many if not most were females with children. DJT respects females and pays them what he agreed too pay them. I can respect that. Would you prefer he grab their tits and expect not to pay like the Dem comedy senator who resigned or beat holy hell out of them like the Dem AG of NY? Or drag them around by the hair of their heads and kick them out naked like the Dem Muslim congressman or the 2020 Dem presidential Avenatti?

I'll stop there. What say you?

Strange because Honda, Toyota, Mazda, BMW, Mercedes, and Volkswagen aren’t killing all of their sedans. They’re making crossovers too, but they aren’t abandoning passenger cars. Hell, Tesla is building mostly sedans.

The American carmakers are just throwing in the towel. Even thought the sedan market has shrunk, it’s still huge. It’s just dominated by other carmakers.

Do you understand what the term gold digger means?

Hell, do you understand what the phrase "They let you..." means?

Please keep posting though, people like you are the reason why Trump won in the first place. You scare the shite out of moderates/independents and really stir up the conservative base.

1. He’s a politician that was elected by labor.

2. He knows he can take credit when GM decides to keep Detroit-Hamtramak open

3. It pisses off people suffering from TDS.

I have proffered zero reasons why GM is closing their plants, but it's funny that the reasons YOU cite don't jibe with Trump's Fed excuse.

None of those mfg except Toyota have made even a dent in the massive truck market which is n absolute dynamite profit center. The average transaction price on a pickup in America is now $50K. It costs just as much to operate an Impala plant as a Silverado plant and dealers are screaming for Silverado's and refusing Impalas. And American SUV's are absolute barn burner sellers. That's where it is at. Making money and keeping your dealer body in business and plants profitable.

And again the little Chevys and Fords are the same as the little Hondas and Toyotas. They don't make them either. The Laos plants do and badge them whatever. So why pizz away your money on low profit sellers. Leave that to the little folks. Truck and SUV plants are being expanded and hiring. Those folks you mention don't have the market penetrations on the trucks and SUVs like GM and Ford. So many are stuck with building what they can sell. Fiat Chrysler learned their lesson. They are huge now in the Ram Truck business and are expanding trucks with a new Jeep pickup. And their SUV's are hot too, like Jeep. Tesla is a wart on an Elephant's arse. The only way it becomes really viable is for some big corp or foreign country to buy them out. They are struggling to pay their bills and can't get their assembly line up and going plus don't have service facilities.
