Eight major studies of identical twins in Australia, the U.S., and Scandinavia during the last two decades all arrive at the same conclusion: gays were not born that way. “At best genetics is a minor factor,” says Dr. Neil Whitehead, PhD. Whitehead worked for the New Zealand government as a scientific researcher for 24 years, then spent four years working for the United Nations and International Atomic Energy Agency. Most recently, he serves as a consultant to Japanese universities about the effects of radiation exposure. His PhD is in biochemistry and statistics. Identical twins have the same genes or DNA. They are nurtured in equal prenatal conditions. If homosexuality is caused by genetics or prenatal conditions and one twin is gay, the co-twin should also be gay. “Because they have identical DNA, it ought to be 100%,” Dr. Whitehead notes. But the studies reveal something else. “If an identical twin has same-sex attraction the chances the co-twin has it are only about 11% for men and 14% for women.” Because identical twins are always genetically identical, homosexuality cannot be genetically dictated. “No-one is born gay,” he notes. “The predominant things that create homosexuality in one identical twin and not in the other have to be post-birth factors.”

There's no such thing as a gay woman, just chicks that got fricked over by a dick so bad once that they don't want to go back again.

I never bought the "genetic" argument because it makes no sense from an evolutionary perspective; gayness does not increase fitness or reproductive success, thus there is ZERO reason for humans to evolve the trait. Of course, there are deleterious genetic traits that result in deadly diseases (cystic fibrosis for example), but the twin studies of gay people have ruled this possibility out. If it were a deleterious genetic trait, both twins would have it.
However, I also don't buy the argument that it's all learned behavior or cultural in some way. We know it's not cultural because there have been homosexuals throughout recorded history in every known culture and time period. I also don't believe it is "learned" or a "choice" because no one would make that choice (why would you?).
So if it's not genetic and it's not a choice, then WTF is it? It's epigenetic or the result of some prenatal abnormality just like autism (most likely) is. I think testosterone and estrogen get all fricked up in the womb, which inclines some males to be effeminate and therefore gay. I think the same process causes transgenderism as well as many transgenders claim they felt they wanted to change sexes as young children (and I am talking about real transgenders, not bullshite SJW parents forcing it on their kids).
But what about the manly gays ("bears" as they call them)? I don't know, it's a good question. I didn't say I had all the answers.

quote:Kinsey et al say otherwise, as do many very attractive women who are exclusively homosexual. But the incidence is 2-3X less than in males.

Well that's it, "the science is settled."

So it's environmental? Something happens in a kids young life? That could explain why it's more likely for twins to share the same homosexual orientation more than the average but far from guaranteed, Twins probably have a higher chance of having identical experiences when younger because they are the same age, usually together more frequently, and are in many cases are treated the same as opposed to other siblings.

You sound like you might be a closeted homosexual.

Kinsey et al say otherwise
Because "science" from the 50's is flawless, and Kinsey was a qualified geneticist and not just some reprobate who liked to film old ladies getting pounded.
Face it. They concocted this bullshite because they wanted to get official protected class status. Twin studies have been cited for years as flying in the face of the genetic argument, as has the fact that homosexuals tend not to procreate.
But don't worry. Even the most staunch of us isn't saying that they should be "oppressed" in any way. Just don't hold your breath for special homo welfare checks. You may now return to defending people who throw them from the rooftops of buildings.

Oh shite . Toddy is going to put down his My Little Ponies and kick the shite out of all of you. For the record, I'm firmly ( ahem) on Team Toddy about this one. The human heart wants what the human heart wants. And if you want to smoke pole or dive for clams , no business of mine. Just increase the love yo.

Think about this though... What the frick could ever happen, that could turn a straight guy queer?
I can't think of one thing that makes sense.
It seems to me that that they must be born gay.

I don't think you understand what 11% or 14% means, or I am misunderstanding what you are saying.

Are you saying people always make sensible choices?
Why would people choose to smoke crack cocaine knowing what we know about it? Or Heroin? Saying it isn't a choice because it is a bad choice, or a choice that will cause them problems in life is at best naive.
I am not saying it is, or is not a choice. Just saying your reasoning is flawed.

It's simple. Man is a sinful creature, and without God we will be tempted by whatever works to move us further away from God.
This will never be an accepted answer, but it's the answer nonetheless.
