Here's what worries me about future presidential elections

Trump easily won the EC but the popular vote was still very close. Some of the swing states he needed to win he only won by less than 25,000 votes.
And it took someone who had the balls to call Hillary and the Democrats out on every controversy linked to them. It took someone to be as nasty if not nastier to them than they've long been to Republicans.
How the hell do Republicans expect to win elections in the future? Trump is a one in a billion kind of candidate. He was the exact right person the Republicans needed at the exact right time...so far ahead of the curve that even Republicans missed the damn train.
I don't see future Republican candidates winning elections unless they can out-nasty the nasty Democrats. Democrats play hardball and Republicans play softball choosing rather to take the imaginary high road than to get their feet dirty.
Once Trump is out of politics, I don't see another Trump-like personality rising to create a national movement to defeat the Democrats.
Folks...it took a national movement to barely defeat the most corrupt candidate in American history.
It shouldn't have taken a national movement to beat Hillary Clinton.
That's what worries me about future elections.

They've got 4 years to clean up the illegal voting. If they dont pass a national Voter ID law then shame on them.
We came very close to having the last fair election ever if Crooked Hillary had 4 years to rig the system even more.

Popular vote doesn't matter. We didn't "barely" beat Hillary.
It was a shellacking.

It's not so much the "nastiness" that got him elected, as it was America tired of the liberal agenda, and having a guy not afraid to offer solutions no matter how non-pc they were. Trump was just a lot more in your face about it, and that energized fly over country. I think 8 years of fulfilling his promises will make it very easy for the right to keep winning. Even the establishmen rino's clean shop on mid-term elections.
Right now, the democrats are at their weakest point in the history of this country, nationwide. From local to state to federal, the left have lost an unprecedented amount of seats. Not all of that is due to Trump. Most of that is rejection of the liberal agenda. People want jobs.

If Trump takes care of business, then maybe more non-politard types will run.

1. Maintain the current base.
2. Cultivate and grow the "working class" base by keeping labor supply low and ensure Americans get employed first.
3. Give corporate oligarchs incentives through taxes and reduced regulations.
4. Make sure the Democrats fight their thuggish cultural wars and scare reasonable people over to the GOP.
5. Lead in creating an environment where Americans feel safe and economically secure.
ETA: Tea Party base plus new working class base plus getting NeverTrumpers back on board = winning elections for generations.

If Trump can get the economy going again then I'd that the Democrats that didn't switch over to vote Trump will do just that when Mike Pence is on the Ballot. Its all about Jobs. So its quite possible that it will be the end of the Democratic party.

We need to make inroads with our legal Hispanics, in a BIG way. They are ultimately the future of this country.

Republicans still have problems on the national ticket going forward. Have to continue to grow the base.

Don't bet on that. Our schools are breeding an untold number of socialist children who don't care about having money, only "social justice". These kids will not give a damn about the economy being in high gear. Remember, we had a HUGE block of people wanting Bernie who would have guaranteed all of us would be taking home a helluva lot less than we do now. And they were fine with that.

To do this we need to encourage Democrats to continue with their SJW thuggish cultural war.
Hispanics from a cultural stand point are natural conservatives. As the Trumpian GOP nurtures the working class conservatives and the Democrats continue with their SJW thuggish cultural war we can win over Hispanics/Latinos. They will easily assimilate into working class culture just like the Irish and Italians of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

3 million illegals voted the popular vote wasn't even close. He won in a landslide.

The way to grow the base is to get stuff done that helps the country when you have power. If he gets some manufacturers to come back, gets his tax plan in and the economy grows that's the best campaign speech he can give.

You do know that Bill Clinton won in 1992 for two reasons...
"It's the economy stupid"(Their internal campaign slogan")
They also lambasted Bush Senior over his raising of taxes that was supported by all democrats and rejected by most republicans.
"Read my lips no new taxes"
One can even argue that it was the raising of taxes that slowed the economy, but it also was a contributing factor that lead to the balanced budget. That and the massive infrastructure spending by companies scared of Y2K
Politics is mainly a lie sold to the stupid and ill informed.

Yes...but these socialist kids need to grow up and put a roof over their heads and will want one give their kids the best life possible ....it goes like this:
If you not a liberal when you are young you have no heart..if you are not a conservative when you are an adult you have no brain.

he fixes economy or Republicans only got a stay of execution (edit lol)
If he fixes economy then I would like him to work on smashing the establishment
You got to think everyone wants him to fail. He can't get term limits done right now. If he fixes people problems though. He is going to be an 800 pound gorilla that gets what he wants. (do it for Hambre)

Part of the point you're trying to make is why there's an electoral college. The founding forefathers weren't dumb.
If you're young and all you've ever known was Clinton/Bush/Obama, then I can see why you'd think Trump was a once in a billion type victory. But it really wasn't. We as a country have seen swings between the right and the left for a long time. It's why balance of power is so necessary.
