Trump is a new style Republican. He speaks his mind. He gets into wars of words. He is willing to go to war over words. He is at times down right rude. He does not mind making enemies.

All these things run contrary to the style of the Republican Party. The fact is the Republican Party is heavily Southern-centric and highly influenced by upper middle class country club types.

In the South politeness is next to cleanliness which is next to godliness. What Trump does and how he acts is no worse than and is in fact the moral equivalence to farting out loud in church during the sermon.

The Republicans never had the stomach to fight fire with fire with the Democratic Party. Therefore in terms of leverage, they never had any. They could be forced to do just about anything and never could keep the Dems from doing anything because they were weak. They were weak because they had a limit and the Dems don't.

Trump has no limits. He is not afraid. He is not a Southerner and while he is a country club type, he is also a fighter. He is a true New Yorker. And they say if you can make it there you can make it anywhere.

The Republican Party never had the balls to lead this country the way it needs to be led. I still get sick to my stomach when I think about the fact that W had both houses and did nothing with it.

It is high time we had a change in tone in the Republican Party. It is what has been missing all along.

The Manhattanites would disagree. He's from Queens, which is uncouth and brash even for them.

I thought I made it pretty clear. I told you what I was going to tell you. I told you. Then I told you what I told you.

Emmett Till Says Hi

quote:

Bryant’s husband Roy and his half brother, J.W. Milam, seized the 14-year-old from his great-uncle’s house. The pair then beat Till, shot him, and strung barbed wire and a 75-pound metal fan around his neck and dumped the lifeless body in the Tallahatchie River. A white jury quickly acquitted the men, with one juror saying it had taken so long only because they had to break to drink some pop. When Till’s mother Mamie came to identify her son, she told the funeral director, “Let the people see what I’ve seen.”

DJT is not an Elitist Country Club Republican Snob like McConnell , Bush, McCain, etc.., He's the new money loud mouth who could only get in the CC through the service entrance. So, Trump buy's and builds some of the finest GC's on the planet and he sit's back flicks his nose at them. Now he's POTUS, and it's killing them.

I totally agree. I will tell you what else he has done besides set a new tone: he gutted the Dem platform and used it against them. They have been giving lip service to blue collar and black voters. Trump is making them his main focus. He sign an EO for HBCs that the 1st black POTUS never did. Obama cared more about the environment than his own people. Trump has the union bosses scrambling. His message is so appealing to there constituencies. That is why they are trying to brand his a Rusky and Racist to combat those two democratic shifts.

That is true. But to start a thread and only say it your way probably won't get a thread going here.

The question is not what but why? A blind man with one leg could have said they were spineless but I have made it known the why.

that is the answer in a nutshell. i don't particularly like Trump's stances in a lot of things. not most, but a lot. i'm just tired of the other side running roughshod over everybody else. i'm happy to have somebody that won't go run back in their corner because they get called a bad name.

Traditionally Republicans would move forward until called a name such as racist or sexist then they would take three steps back and crawl into a hole for the next two years.

Trump just ignores the names and moves forward.

Trump was not my primary pick, but I'm glad he won.

Maybe on a baseline level but when you peel back the layers it is revealing that the GOP have been playing by a different set of rules, albeit a set of rules that has a long standing tradition. The Dems chunked the rules of common decency that had been observed up and until that point. The GOP was very slow to adjust.

Golf has a lot of rules and is a game of honor, often resulting in self imposed penalties. That is the ethos of the GOP. The GOP has been the the GOB.

Now the Dems are like street ball in the hood. Prison rules and no fouls.
