A group of 22 House Republicans voted Wednesday night with Democrats to table a resolution that would censure Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib over her “anti-Semitic beliefs.”

The resolution was introduced by Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. The House did not end up voting on the legislation after 22 Republicans voted with Democrats on a motion to table the vote. 13 Republicans did note vote. The vote was 222-186. After the vote, Rep. Van Orden changed his vote to no.

“I just introduced my resolution to censure Rashida Tlaib as privileged to force a House vote in two legislative days,” Greene wrote in a tweet after introducing the resolution. “Tlaib led a pro-Hamas insurrection into the Capitol complex, has repeatedly displayed her anti-Semitic beliefs, and shown her hatred for Israel. She must be held accountable and censured.”

When your enemy is shooting their own foot why stop them. I want Rash to feel free to say what she really feels.

Yeah, this isn't a hill to die on... Let it go. Talib is a moron, but morons say stupid shite. Her stance/comments will bite her in the arse at some point.

You do this to her then as soon as Dems have the House back they do it to any R the disagree with and so on.

You can believe anything you want, but outright public campaigning is another matter entirely.

I’m sure Marge wouldn’t mind a motion to censure directed against her for her beliefs.

Tlaib is a Muslim. Any betting person would guess that she would side with Palestinians. That’s her constituency. But she’s only one person in a large legislative chamber. She can’t move American policy and alliances by herself.

Just like Marge.

As a Christian, why should I choose sides? Both despise me, one wants to kill me and the other wants to use me and both want to rule over me.

I say we sit this out and let them destroy each other.

That’s a very charitable way of phrasing it.

Had this passed what actually would have been the result/punishment or whatever?

Is it just symbolic or would he have been thrown out of Congress and arrested?

I ain’t going to argue with you here. I’ve not seen much from this rep that i agree with. Thus the wisdom of a large House.

She is siding with a terrorist group that killed innocent U. S. citizens. She is siding with the enemy. She should be censured at the least, since she is a representative of the United States NOT Hamas.

Back in the day, her crap would not be tolerated. She is giving aid and comfort to the enemy, plain and simple.

The same can be said for Tuberville, JD Vance, and several others.

And yet we tolerate politician(s) who basically label awesome, strong, and doting, the leaders of China, NK, Turkey, and Russia.

Censorship is wrong no matter what side you are on. I despise her and everything she stands for, but she has a right to say what she wants without persecution or prosecution, just like Donald Trump does. The problem is that now that protection is not equal.
