Spend your money to finance sending other people's children to NK, silly.
I mean, Duhhhhh.

First of all we DID do something, we united the Korean peninsula - then the Chinese intervened and split it back up. NK is China's problem now.
But also, our culture eschews history and historical context. We've already forgotten that we invaded NK before, how would we remember that we didn't do something in the past? We are a shameless nation, and not embarrassed at all by our ignorance of history.

It's a fair question for anyone with an ounce of personal conscience who doesn't like to take the piss-poor pathetic approach of "well, what are others doing about it? huh? huh? then, like, why should we care? Doesn't affect me. When we gonna legalize weed? Whatever man."

SO I take it you don't want to play this game again?

I am aware that we went into Korea. I must somewhat ignorant in that I believe that the worst of the interment camps began after we left Korea and has been worsening in conditions since then.
That aside, I clearly stated that I didn't believe we should go in again and I don't think we could accomplish anything if we did. China is the key. It doesn't mean that I don't feel remorse that we are aware of people suffering such awful treatment and we are doing nothing.

You are sooooo courageous! I'll bet the damsels just line up to hear you speak about going to war and freeing the oppressed peoples of the east!
Please, tell me, how did the last war in Korea turn out for America? 30,000 dead and a clean 100,000 wounded sounds about right to me. Small potatoes. We grow young soldiers on trees here in America! shite, aside from Korea and Vietnam, wars is Asia are almost a surefire success! Ill bet this time we can end the conflict once and for all! Come to think of it...Why don't we just go to war in the middle east and straighten all that stuff out while we are at it? Especially if it will ease your conscience, Navy. After all, I expect the government of the Unites States of America to place conscience and human compassion above reason in all matters, especially war.
If you were being sarcastic, I apologize.

It's a terrible situation, but what can we do?
Oil, or the lack thereof, has nothing to do with this. If Iraq was about oil, I guess I missed the part where we took their oil.

Is this warning worth anything? Will anybody lift a finger to end it? No don't think so. and honestly, don't really want us involved overseas in this.
I don't either.
As a side note, NK is a perfect example of what lies at the end of the big government "slippery slope" argument.
WIKI:
quote:
The means of production are owned by the state through state-run enterprises and collectivized farms, and most services such as healthcare, education, housing and food production are state funded or subsidized.[26] In the 1990s North Korea suffered from a famine and continues to struggle with food production. In 2013, the UN identified North Korean government policies as the primary cause of the shortages and estimated that 16 million people required food aid.[27][28] North Korea's health care system has been a subject of controversy: the World Health Organization described it as "the envy of the developing world" while Amnesty International claims that it suffers from barely functioning hospitals, poor hygiene and epidemics.[29]
quote:
North Korea follows Songun, or "military-first" policy in order to strengthen the country and its government.[30] It is the world's most militarized society, with a total of 9,495,000 active, reserve, and paramilitary personnel. Its active duty army of 1.21 million is the 4th largest in the world, after China, the U.S., and India.[31] It is a nuclear-weapons state and has an active space program
But hey, NK has a "space program". I'm sure that makes it all worth it.
Ok, I am done being dramatic.

Why do y'all view invasion / war as our only option?

If oil was a flowing you can bet your arse North Korea would be over run with US troops.
No oil.
No care.

IMO, it is far from our only option. We have all sorts of options, including my favorite, which is to limit our liability as much as possible by staying out of that disgusting mess that is North Korea. I fail to see how the America people should be responsible for any part of that nightmare. I vote that we entirely divest ourselves of the entire peninsula.
I do feel terribly for the people that have and do suffer so greatly under those lunatics. Make no mistake though, I have no interest in our government's involvement in that region. Compassion is one of the worst reasons for a government to take action. Unfortunately it is often the given reason for such gallivanting.

It is.
We play the blow job game with them right now.
Hold up the food we send them to get them to stop their nuke program.
They stop it.
We send food.
They restart it.
wash
rinse
repeat.

i don't think it is but i think we should be making it more of a priority than we are. we seemed focused mostly on containment.

I understand this line of thinking and usually agree with it. Unfortunately we simply don't have the resources to right every wrong in the world. We just couldn't ever do it. I understand that. But there comes a time where the situation is so dire and so disturbing that I think we have a moral responsibility to act. I'm not saying I should be the one who decides where that line is, but personally i think we've reached that point with North Korea.

Why are so many black people anti-Zemitic?
I don't know why, but Jews vote a lot like blacks. They certainly supported Obama.
Just don't get the hatred blacks have for Jews.
