Haven't been paying attention due to Christmas. Explain Israel-UN-Kerry to me.

What has happened?
I know there was a UN resolution or vote against Israel. The US allowed it? Pushed for it behind the scenes?
Kerry gives a speech today blasting Israel.
Netanyahu fires back. Russia and Iran siding with each other?
What is the crux of this? Everything I see online is just reaction against something that already happened. What prompted the UN vote? What is that all about?
I'm trying to catch up and feel like I am missing the key event that precipitated all of this and then the crux of the response to it.

The best that I can tell is that the Palestinians and Egyptians created a resolution that basically condemned all Israeli settlements outside of the '67 boarders (which includes in Jerusalem), and thus might open them up for economic sanctions down the line since the settlements are now deemed illegal by this resolution. Apparently the Obama administration has been working behind the scenes to make sure the wording was right for them to abstain from voting once it went before the security counsel. According to Israel, they also have "ironclad" proof that the Obama administration was not only working behind the scenes on the wording, but was also pushing other countries to vote for the resolution. Then before Egypt introduced it, Israel asked Trump to intervene. Trumped contacted Egypt, and Egypt held off on introducing it. The next day, New Zealand and a handful of other countries took it upon themselves to introduce it since Egypt had backed out.
So that is the gist of what happened. Israel claims that the Obama administration pushed this through behind the scenes to force Israel to concede to a 2 state solution, even though the Trump administration was publically against it, and even had convinced Egypt not to introduce the resolution.

Thanks, man. Appreciate that. That's more information that I've gotten from several articles. The MSM won't tell the truth and conservative media just wants to bash Obama/Kerry and I can't figure out what in the world is actually happening because of all the outrage and spin.

Many Jews consider Israel promised by God. The Promised Land.
Those Jews are not interested in sharing with Arabs. The expansion is part of "receiving" the Promised Land.
Since the Palestinian party in power, Hamas, does not recognize Israel's right to exist, why give them an inch?
The region was under Turkish Ottoman Empire for 400 years give or take. After WW I, Brits and French divided up much of the Ottoman Empire.
in the late 1940's Jews took what they call Israel by force from the Arabs who lived there in a short civil war. The UN allowed it to happen. The Brits didn't try hard to stop them. The jews bombed the King David Hotel and killed some Brits. terrorism. The leader of the bombing was later elected leader of Israel.

Thx for the explanation. Im still a little confused. One thing is clear, however, Obama is a sneaky snake and these globalist jerks need to just give up

The crux is that the UN passed a resolution, from which the US abstained, that showed Israel is little better than Nazi Germany in its policies against lands it illegally controls and the Jooooooos don't like it.
