Has Trump ever given a statement on an "anchor baby" amendment?

Would seem like an obvious target point considering the larger campaign. And I would think there is support among his supporters for such an amendment. But I've never heard it as a topic of conversation.

Has anyone heard him, or his team, mention it specifically?

He said that the anchor babies have to go. It was a big topic of discussion back in the primaries.

Are you talking about a Constitutional Amendment to strip citizenship from anchor babies?

No, they would be grandfathered in. More of an elimination of automatic citizenship in the future.

Im with you in that I think mass deportation is idiotic, expensive, and unfeasible. But you have to remove some of the incentive they have for mass migrating here in the first place. There is, literally, a market for birthing vacations/roadtrips to the US in Asia, S. America, and Mexico. Medicaid is a HUGE incentive, particularly the obstetric care provided pre and post delivery. Removing the medicaid and anchor baby incentive would help reduce the unwanted immigration drastically, IMO.

Even if you grandfathered in existing people that is still a constitutional amendment.

Fair enough, but that still requires a number of steps and relies on an uncertain ruling from the Court. The only reliable way to end it is an amendment.

Regardless of your opinions on legal or illegal immigration, it is completely ludicrous that a Chinese (or Irish or Russian) could literally be flying over the United States, have a layover in Dallas and go into labor. That child would be an American citizen.

Does anyone think that the 14th amendment intended that?

I didn't say I agreed with it. Just pointing out that there are some significant hurdles to fixing it.

I wasn't directing that at you, just responding to the last post.

I can't believe this has gone on this long without a challenge. Upwards of 300,000 anchor babies are born each year. It's ridiculous.
