President Joseph R. Biden Approves Emergency Declaration for Texas
Release Date Release Number
February 14, 2021 HQ-21-031
WASHINGTON – FEMA announced federal emergency aid has been made available to the state of Texas to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in areas affected by a severe winter storm beginning on Feb. 11, 2021 and continuing.
The president’s action authorizes FEMA to coordinate all disaster relief efforts, which have the purpose of alleviating the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures, authorized under Title V of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, to save lives and to protect property and public health and safety, and to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in all 254 Texas counties.
Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize, and provide at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency. Emergency protective measures for mass care and sheltering and direct federal assistance will be provided at 75% federal funding.
Jerry S. Thomas has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal response operations for the affected area. Additional designations may be made later if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further assessments.

I know the point of this thread is to ha ha dunk on Biden. But...
He has approved federal aid quickly and FEMA is helping without delay.
I understand this upsets some of you, but if we have a government, be proud when it works.

I'm all about government working as intended in the mission to help citizens in need, but hell all I'm hearing are anecdotes of a dire situation throughout Texas. If it is working, they need to tell us about it in some fashion, as faith in federal government is waning these days.

Well Cruz and his family are in Cancun right now, so Biden is actually helping Texas more than it’s own Senator

We're just getting stuff done here in OK, keepin on keepin on.
As long as we can handle it ourselves we'll take care of it ourselves. The current White House occupant can save his FEMA help for sometime in July when some liberal northeastern city declares an emergency because the temperatures exceed 84° for four days in a row.

Imagine trying to use someone not located in Texas to try and dunk on someone because they’re currently not located in Texas...

I’m not upset and was genuinely curious. My heart hurts for those people .. it could be me trying to keep my kids warm in a house without electricity and water pouring in from a roof.
I don’t keep up with Texas news — are there warming locations? Are there trucks/whatever getting people to safer locations?

Dude do you even know how each political positions work ? Senators are not state employees nor are they anyway in control of state decisions . Cruz has zero abilities to help or decide in any fashion . But your silly attempt of an attack was duly noted

How so? I was under the impression that FEMA reported into the executive branch. Has something changed?

So, you do not understand the duties of the Executive Branch vs the role of a U.S. Senator?

More like mid-90 degree temps but it does happen every few years. Not a lot of buildings in NYC are equipped with big enough HVAC units to deal with heat waves.
