It's okay to admit you are afraid to go to Ukraine.
We won't judge you here.
Fact is, you will happily send someone else to fight for a cause that you believe in. But you won't book a single one of those flights to Kiev.

Wow. Drama queen much?
I simply make a statement about Munich, and the usual suspects lose their shite.
You're pro-abortion. Why don't you go cut a few fetuses out of some pregnant bellies?

Your soapbox:
Then what's the lesson? That we need to goad England and France into attacking Russia?
Because certainly you weren't talking about American appeasement, right?
The problem I'm having is that this is the same rhetoric I was encountering prior to our invasion of Iraq in 2003. Not one of those people over there was worth a single drop of our blood. Yet American sons and daughters died for that bullshite. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of our civilian 'leadership' taking advantage of our soldiers' professionalism and sending them to die NOT in defense of our country/Constitution/flag - which is what they signed up for.

Make a thread and we can discuss that...try to stay on topic in this one.
Fact is, this thread, like every thread is a blame Obama thread.
We have nothing to do with the situation over there.
If your teen idol mister Putin rolls into a Nato country.
Then we can talk.
Right now, as bad as I feel for Ukraine, they are on their own.

this times a million.
Our sons and daughters do not defend American shores from our various enemies.
We invade other countries under the guise of spreading freedom (wmds!) and then don't understand why half the world hates us.
I would never recommend anyone of age to join the military at this point. It has become just another corporate tool to spread the myth of American exceptionalism throughout the world. No man or woman needs to die for that shite.

What I see happening in this thread, and on this board for that matter, is a discussion that follows if you believe in the Weinberger/Powell Doctrine. For those not familuar with the doctrine, it is named after General Colin Powell in the run-up to the 1990–91 Gulf War. It is based in large part on the Weinberger Doctrine, devised by Caspar Weinberger, former Secretary of Defense for President Ronald Reagan from 1981 to 1987.
The Powell Doctrine states that a list of questions all have to be answered affirmatively before military action is taken by the United States:
1. Is a vital national security interest threatened?
2. Do we have a clear attainable objective?
3. Have the risks and costs been fully and frankly analyzed?
4. Have all other non-violent policy means been fully exhausted?
5. Is there a plausible exit strategy to avoid endless entanglement?
6. Have the consequences of our action been fully considered?
7. Is the action supported by the American people?
8. Do we have genuine broad international support?
I think we can state there are some clear "no"s to several of the criteria with regards to military action with Russia. If you believe the Powell doctrine is bullshite, that's one thing, but if you agree with the doctrine than the US is doing what we should.

Going back to those Obama Romney debates with the benefit of hindsight is like watching Romney put on a masterclass in leadership ability and statesmanship, and Obama being completely, laughably wrong on every issue possibly none worse than this one. 2016 cannot get here fast enough. Lord willing we get somebody better than this clown in office (it would be hard to do worse).

Typical

I for one do not think it is Obama's fault that Putin is being... well... Putin!
However, I do think Obama has not said or done anything in his tenure as President that would give Putin any reason to "pause" before he acted.

Both sides have contributed to the current lack of political dialogue.

There's no way that Obama could say or do anything to alter the fact that our military cannot be sent to Ukraine to defend their borders.
Putin knows this - he's not retarded. So there's literally nothing that Obama / Reagan / Lincoln / Grant / Washington could freaking do about this situation. NOTHING.
Blame Merkel. Blame Putin. Or blame Obama for one of the other 1,000 things he's done a shitty job on. But there's literally nothing different he could do re: Russia / Ukraine.

Disagree there, buddy. I don't think there has ever been a nation that can measure up to this one.

I agree if you're referring to America in the past tense and if you make exemptions for slavery and racial inequality (which in our credit we handled about as well as a large capitalistic nation could handle). But we're pretty lame nowadays and it's only going to get worse as this demographic shift continues to occur and as vast swaths of Americans are swallowed by obesity, cheap and unhealthy food, and poor lifestyle choices.
