quote:

“In one group therapy session, Harvey arrived 15 minutes late. Then, when it was his turn to speak, he launched into a speech about how this is all a conspiracy against him.”

The source added that as others at the clinic shared their personal stories, “Harvey fell asleep in his chair. He was only woken up by the ringing of his smuggled mobile phone [which is banned at the facility] . . . Harvey jolted awake, jumped up, immediately took the call and then ran out of the room.”

I actually believe that to a certain extent. They were impressionable young gals who trusted him to further their careers. Unfortunately, he betrayed that trust.

Harvey broke the one cardinal rule of business... You NEVER EVER fish from the company pier - it never ends well.

Too bad he is too stupid to see what he did was wrong.

This is the classic case of Quid Pro Quo Sexual Harassment. He used his position of power/influence in exchange for sexual favors from others.

Further, based on what little I know about his cases, there are certainly elements of Hostile Workplace as well depending on whether or not those abused could be considered "employees".

Would/Will be easy case to win.

It's that generation of men's mindset. I had an old boss (he's long since retired) about 20 years ago, when the Lewinsky stuff was going on, tell me that it's no big deal for a boss to have an affair with someone under him. Of course, he told me this away from our female co-workers and after work. He said it happened all the time in the 70's and 80's. I worked for the government at the time.

The dude didn't rape anyone....come on man...after 20 yrs they all gang up on him and twist and tweak the stories....it was for others reasons the media won't talk about....it doesn't fit their narrative.... lol

Well, that is about the time the women's movement kicked into high gear, so there's that.

Just reminded me of this...

If Weinstein was a R and R donor, can you imagine the narrative.

Not only would he be a rapist scumbag but also a racist scumbag because he didn't offer "career enhancement" to black actress.

Weinstein is racist.

Let me preface this by saying I 100% agree with him being a sexual predator based on the allegations against him. There's not a doubt in my mind he used his position of power to coerce women into sleeping with him in return for some role or some form of career advancement.
Having acknowledged all that, there needs to be more intellectual honesty in how we disect his actions as an individual, and the underlying issues that are prominent and seemingly accepted within Hollywood culture. If, by most accounts, there are many others in Hollywood who at least somewhat knew about this behavior occurring rampantly behind closed doors, then can we assert that maybe some of these "victims" are not entirely blameless? Can we not also condemn them, if their case was consensual, holding them accountable for promulgating this vile sexual predator behavior? If they were aware of the rumors of "this is how it goes if you want to get ahead" then I don't see how there shouldn't also be some level of scrutiny held against them for their compliance in perpetuating this as a norm for Hollywood.
