Do you doubt this dumb bitch would say these things?
No, but that still doesn't mean she said them. Similarly, it's easy to accuse Joe Biden and Sarah Palin of saying stupid things just based on their reputation, that they may not have actually said.

Do you guys actually think she represents anything other than a sliver of Hollywood/NYC that makes up an incredibly small, almost immeasurable, percentage of the electorate?
Why in the everloving frick is Gwyneth Paltrow's political activity meaningful?
A currently sitting President of the USA considers her political activity meaningful. Is that not good enough reason?quote:Then they should be called out too. Right?
Elected officials on both sides attend ridiculous fundraisers.
First you ask, "Do you guys actually think she represents anything other than a sliver of Hollywood?"
Now I'm no lawyer, but it sounds to me as if you're admitting Paltrow to be categorically weird enough, politically extreme enough, as to represent only a "sliver" of an already out-of-the-mainstream locale. So when the POTUS attends a fundraiser hosted by said doughhead, and said doughhead makes embarrassingly doughheaded statements about the POTUS, you honestly don't think it deserves a chuckle?
quote:Are those republicans calling for obliteration of the upperclass while attending the upperclass fundraisers?
So what? Really. You don't think that there are Republican fundraisers sponsored by people who don't have a clue about the middle class? My point is that this is much ado about nothing.
Come on VOR! Goodness gracious.

yes, but, you know, the video and audio could be FAKED by the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy

The quotes are in the article. The burden is on you to provide evidence that the author of the article is lying.
Ms. Paltrow has issued no objection to her quoted statements advocating Dictatorial powers for Obama. If these quotes were lies, I'm sure that her paid Publicists would have issued some objections by now.
If Paltrow issues no objections to these quotes, then, we may logically conclude that the quotes are accurate.
Is that not logical?

I was joking about the video and audio.
My arguments about the quotes themselves and the fact that the Paltrow family's attorneys have issued no demands for retraction stand as proof of the accuracy of her statement that Obama should have Dictatorial powers.
The burden is on you to demonstrate that the author of the article is lying.
This is a link to the Washington Post, and they also quote Paltrow.

Isn't it worthy of note that, whenever some public figure says something like "Gee, I wish that we had a Dictatorship here in the USA" that it is always a supporter of the Democrat Party?
What are your thoughts on this phenomenon?

That's logical, but to be honest, I don't follow TMZ, and I don't know if that's the type of outfit that would be worthy of a response from an A list celebrity like Paltrow. Furthermore, I don't read the magazines at the checkout counter in the grocery store, so I have no idea what Paltrow's response was. If the New York Times or the Washington Post quoted you as saying something, I would take it as the gospel, but as far as I can tell, TMZ's claim to fame is releasing videos and pictures that were provided by hackers and leakers, so I'm not inclined to take their written quotes as gospel.

The Washington Post has printed an article that quotes her saying that she wishes that Obama had the power to enact all legislation that he might desire.
You are not facing a TMZ article, but, rather WashPo.

As I said earlier, I'm inclined to take the Washington Post's quotes as gospel without further inquiry. I just haven't followed this whole Paltrow story, since I guess I'm conditioned filter out the things I see and hear involving celebrities of her ilk.

Seems fair enough.
But why is it always a Democrat supporter when you read about somebody saying something like "We need the President to have Dictatorial powers" ?

Quick question. Why in the everloving frick is Gwyneth Paltrow's political activity meaningful or worthy of discussion. Do you guys actually think she represents anything other than a sliver of Hollywood/NYC that makes up an incredibly small, almost immeasurable, percentage of the electorate? Does it simply get some of you off just to constantly riff on this silly shite? It must.
You stupid shite. Do you think we forgot ALL the times liberals find the wackiest kook they can find and smear all conservatives with the same brush? You liars and scumbags are not served well by assuming everyone else is stupid.

I don't pay attention to noise from folks of his ilk. As a general rule, they tend to be some of the most rank bigots you'll ever encounter, while the next racist or anti-Jewish statement you see posted by me on this board will be my first.

I don't think conservatives or liberals should be held accountable for the words of celebrities unless that politician somehow associates themselves with that celebrity. Folks like Paltrow and Ted Nugent are fair game because politicians have chosen to associate themselves with them in a political context. However, let's be honest, Paltrow's comments, which were said in the privacy of her own home, are very tame compared to some of the bile that's come out of Nugent's mouth on numerous occasions in public, sometimes at Republican-hosted events.

Woody Allen
quote:
"It would be good… if [President Obama] could be dictator for a few years because he could do a lot of good things quickly," Allen is quoted as saying. Allen is also to have said: "I am pleased with Obama. I think he is brilliant. The Republican Party should get out of his way and stop trying to hurt him."
