You can't be serious. Either that, or you have no idea how juries are chosen.

No need to be a smartass

Grand jurors are pulled from the same pool of ordinary people as petit jurors, the ones who decide trials, and are paid the same, in St. Louis County about $18 a day plus mileage.

AKA ordinary, typically retired - which as I said previously blacks make up roughly 13% of the pop.

A judge tries to balance members’ gender, race and geography. Here, a grand jury meets on Wednesdays for four months. The current one is set to expire Sept 10 but will be extended to hear all the evidence in the Brown case, McCulloch said. He said the grand jury had three black members, out of 12 total.

And yes, I know how they are chosen. My secretary is the Secretary of the Harris County Grand Jury.

So some of you think these 9 white people will let the cop go even if the evidence is against him? Im pretty damn certain they will not!

The are screwed either way. Probably ruin their lives.

Are grand juries normally 12? I thought it was a bigger group that heard several cases before being dismissed.

16 is the minimum for a FEDERAL grand jury. Otherwise, it's state law that decides, and in Missouri the number is a flat 12.

Here in NH it's 23.

The one I served on in Bama was 18. 12 votes yes were needed for a true bill.

Its 12 in MO, 9 of which to get the Bill.... Just looked it up on the AG's website.

Like I said, I thought it was a minimum of 16, but apparently not. You learn something new every day.

St. Louis county demographics according to Wikipedia - 70.3% white, 23.3% black, 3.5% Asian, rest other.

So if my 2nd grade math is correct, it's proportional, very slightly in favor of blacks.

They make up 13% of the U.S. population, but I'm pretty sure the percentage in the St. Louis metro area is considerably higher than that. In Ferguson alone they make up 67% of the population.

Do you have to have a valid ID to be selected to be on a grand jury?
