Lots of pundits are saying the recent retirement announcements by several republicans in the house are a sign they know 2018 will be wave election for Dems.

The more plausible explanation is they are never trumpers, especially the Mexican woman who represents a south Florida district, who know they would lose a primary.

Pelosi is a lot closer to a majority than people realize. What's funny is that Trump hasn't realized she will try to Impeach him if she has a majority of 10 votes or so... Expect Trump to try and dump Ryan next year as the future of the House becomes more uncertain.

Every single election they've held since Trump got elected has been "wave election" for the democrats. How have they all turned out? The best ones are "the republicans may have won, but they won by less then Trump won by, so the people are quite clearly rejecting Trump and his agenda and the democrats will take the house and senate back in 2018."

If Pelosi makes 2018 a referendum on impeachment, she will lose bigly and GOP will retain control easily.

They've had an easy ride. They know they will have a brutal primary fight that they might lose, so they are saying frick it.

Or maybe they don't want to face a brutal primary they will lose.

Or maybe they're sick of Washington.

Or maybe they see a good year for the GOP and feel good a R will replace them and are ready to retire

Imagine being a reasonable Republican in office right now. The Republican congress has been overrun by cowards and extremists. And then there is the White House.
