The guy has been an utter failure since being chosen for that position and what happens when they have an opportunity to get rid of him and put someone competent in the position? They reappoint him to the position.

The republican party is just as stupid as the democratic party, and those elected officials won't really suffer, but the American People will.

Damn shame too.

Ryan is spineless. So was Boehner. Boy - do I miss Newt.

Well yeah. He hasn't had to seriously put any major legislation together in his entire time in Congress. Most congressmen haven't. The House and Senate leadership put together the budget shortly before Ryan took over as Speaker so that he didn't have to do it.

A blowup doll or a sock puppet. Either would be more effective.

Newt has quite truly spent the last 6 months trying to keep his face in the news by shifting ideology with the changing of the wind

Newt has absolutely no idea how to handle the current congressional situation and he's lost any ideological credibility he had.

You realize the HFC isn't even a majority of House republicans? Why the frick do you think they should run things?

At this point we should just let them try to get it out of everyone's system

Major difference... Newt has testicles.

Because they are? The difference between the Republicans and Democrats in the house is 44. There are 29 members of the Freedom Caucus who vote together as a bloc. If they all vote nay on your bill, you don't have enough votes to pass it.

LOL

No he fricking doesn't. He's been a huge pussy for months. He's largely subservient to Trump until he can't get on a Sunday show, at which point he makes a mild rebuke and uses it to stay relevant.

There is zero consistency with his positions from the campaign to now. He's pathetic, and I grew up with him as my congressman (and once admired the guy).

Newt has become more and more like his namesake over the years.

Honestly, I have no substantive ideas. I would just like someone NOT from the Midwest. The "Golly-gee well you know awe shucks boy howdy" shite gets really old really fast. Didn't help that I got an overdose of it last year with Kasich. And of course Boehner before.

I just want someone who sounds like and adult and doesn't try to smile when he's pissed off. Or cry. No crying either.
