But they will fund it during the next CR. They will never pass Trump's budget because it requires that they address Obamacare.

What a fricking disaster Obamacare has become.

TRUMP: As far as single payer, it works in Canada. It works incredibly well in Scotland.

he was for single payer because its good for business.
under the proposed system, major employers still have to pay much of the bill.

the real downside of single payer for all is that we have not put any effort into increasing the number of MDs and number of physicians assistants to address the new clients.

No it doesn't. Where do the wealthy in Canada go for their healthcare? Oh, that's right, they all cross the border and come to the U.S. This includes Canadian politicians.

Moreover, Canada doesn't have 20 million illegals leaching off their system while paying nothing in. It's a different situation up there entirely.

There is a lot of ways you could attack this sideways.

My father(and I for several years) worked for a major hospital in this state in the administration department.

One way would be allowing Nurse Practitioners and Physicians Assistants to have the requirement for physician supervision to be taken away, and/or create a bridge program of some form. You could also reduce the current restriction of 4 years of residency of qualified doctors from countries we could deem to have medical schools that are equivalent enough. With all this though you run into the third largest lobby in the country, the AMA.

I always wonder if people that say this have employer healthcare, subsidized by the employer tax credit?

You know, the one almost all economists on either side of the aisle, of any stripe, contend is distorting the market, incentivizes over-consumption of healthcare and has been a drag on wages.

Bad policy (would cause a lot of innocent people to suffer) and bad politics (if it happens on your watch, low information types blame you, even though the Democrats denied the problems for years and never put any effort into fixing them).

Jesus! It's fricking insurance people! It's not the hardest problem the human race has faced. Treat it like car insurance. If Geico, State Farm and the fricking General can stay in business with retarded drivers, then that model can be used for healthcare. Gov't shouldn't be involved.

Not if you don't own a car, or put it on the road.

Look. Health care is not a human right. The Dems say everything is a human right. Healthcare, living in the USA. Just because they say it over and over again doesn't make it true. Two hundred years ago, if you got sick, you better have a chicken to pay the doctor. He had a skill that you paid for. Not unlike what the blacksmith or what the grocer was selling. Important but not a human right.
