TBH there is nothing to criticize about this other than the almost certain lack of action.

Looks good to the Catholics. He's up for reelection soon. No time like the present to start campaigning.

On its face this sounds good. Not sure what insight the Pope has on Louisiana human trafficking though.

And you really think Edwards and the Pope talking will make a difference?

I have no problem with this. There isn't anything on the table right now the Governor can address. We got tons of flood money, he has visited Washington, and he fought his battle with Landry which is now in the courts.

We have a special session coming up. If it was on the eve of that, I would be pissed.

How do you figure that a Louisiana governor/politician talking to the world-wide leader of Catholicism will have a substantial impact on reducing human trafficking? Genuinely curious as I did not know that the Pope gave advice to state governors in the United States

We are actually. Huge human trafficking port. A lot of the Caribbean, west Mexico, and northern South American victims come through NOLA.

Tell him to take a vacation, but he doesn't need to take lawmakers, the state police and an entourage to visit the Pope under the pretext that it's to stop human trafficking.

The Pope gives advice to tons of politicians. And meeting the Pope is always a big deal, for any reason. So it's not really something he can just turn down.

Nothing going on in La. People getting their FEMA money fast, we have all the money we need to recover, the budgets balanced, crime in NO and BR had been arrested, and now it's quiet so there's time to attack human trafficking.

The article doesn't really say who invited who. The pope better empty his pockets or this is merely just a vacation for John Bel.

He could have accomplished this via mail or telephone.

Good

And you fit right in with all the trial lawyers and ambulance chasers and lobbyists who suck up to Edwards.

The man has been elk hunting, taken an excursion to Cuba and now conjured up a reason to go to Rome.

He is a brash SOB talking about tax increases and traveling the world on the state's tab.
