i found a bit more if anyone interested:

quote:

The Springfield Soccer Association claims Mili's appearance wasn't the issue – a misprint in a team roster caused the confusion. In the roster, Mili is listed as a boy.

In a statement to WOWT 6 News, the Springfield Soccer Club said, "Listing a male player on a girls team roster is a violation of state and tournament rules."

Translation:

Rather than play the game, whine about something on the other team and get them disqualified.

This is literally what happened. The opposing team complained *4 hours* before the game started.

Sounds like the opposing coach was scared and saw a way out.

This "girl" is probably really a boy and is kicking arse and the other teams finally had enough.

Amusing how many people immediately jumped to the conclusion they wanted regarding an 8 year old child.

Yeah, let's show that kid! How dare they! I know that's a boy because of a single picture! I am a genetics expert and a doctor and can tell these things easily, and I presume everyone else is lying about the kid's gender because *I* am the psychic hero we all need to stop these 8 year olds from ruining our country!!!!

...

Idiots.

If a doctor's physical says it's a girl...

quote:

"We had a doctor's physical form and it gave a description and it said her age and female, so we showed them that but they wouldn't look at it,” said Cruz Hernandez, Mili's brother.

Not a birth certificate.

Funny how at no point did they offer THAT as proof.

I would bet there's a good deal more to this story than the child simply looking like a boy.

If this were the entire bases for disqualification then someone is insane. There has to be more that is not being reported in this article.

The title is misleading. It should read:

"Child disqualified from tourney after parents fail to furnish birth certificate as proof of gender"

Seems pretty straight forward to me.

There has to be a lawsuit here.

If course , cause it's the liberal way.

How does a girl not being able to play soccer, even though they can prove she's a girl, compare to your son enjoying boogers? I'm not saying they deserve a Payday. But they were obviously wronged by a bigoted a-hole. I'd say they at least deserve some answers. If your son were discriminated against because he looks like a girl, you'd probably start a fight.

If this is true than I don't see how there is any room for complaint. It is either the fault of the parents or the team for incorrectly identifying the child as a male. It actually would make it wrong of the league to overlook it, especially when there is even an inkling of doubt. Rules are rules and I have seen teams disqualified for all kinds of minor infractions, I don't see how this is any different. I also still don't understand why they keep referring to insurance cards and the doctor's exam likely didn't involve "checking out the plumbing" but rather involved the parents identifying sex on the form if it is like any youth exam I have had for my kids (especially with 8 year olds, they aren't going to check for a hernia). A birth certificate is the standard form of identifying gender and age at youth sporting events, has been since I was a kid and still is with the boys I coach.

In Louisiana, you have to have a Louisiana Soccer association roster, medical consent forms and player passes to play in tournaments. You have to have all of those are your kid isn't playing. I never had to show a birth certificate for any of my kids.

the league

Just to clarify, according to the league they weren't involved in any way - it was the organizers of the tournament who made the decision.

That's odd. So no age verification? Age is the most common way to cheat.

Whoa, man, while I think it's silly she was still in the girls' division after starting treatment. The logic probably went not enough for chemical performance enhancement, too little to compete in the boys yet.

But nothing was morally wrong there. It's just a highschool wrestling match.

For our club we use a website, Blue Sombrero, to register kids. I don't ever remember having to show a birth certificate. I am a board member so I will have to ask that question. Maybe we can start cheating.

Was this person born a girl or a boy? My experience on child verification when it comes to youth athletics was what Jeff Parish Rec Dept required. Basically you had to get an parish issued ID that documented age, sex, and whether u lived within the parish. You needed the child's birth certificate and a utility bill to prove residence to get the Id

Long story short, a clerical error led to the team's disqualification. The girl will likely have 15 minutes of fame and a Gofundme. And we get 24 hours of outrage on social media. "Goddamn Nebraskans." I fully agree. Nebraska sucks.
