Perhaps you are mistaken. Russians don't cotton to invaders. I don't think anyone considered Hitler's troops as liberators.

I dunno, maybe because a fascist "liberating" a communist is still a fascist.

If the Hitler wasn't a psycho they could have incorporated and armed millions of Eastern Europeans who hated the Soviets

Then the Germans murdered all of them.

Just war is a matter of who initiates the aggression, not who has the higher body count

Liberation was not the goal of Hitler. Land, oil and resources were.

You clearly don't know how Ukraine has always felt about Russia. People in Ukraine welcomed the Germans.

Seriously dude, you need to read some history books if you have to even ask this question. I would suggest Martin Gilbert's excellent book on World War II and The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William Shirer, for starters.

In the beginning they did, that is true. Later, after the Nazis began treating the population (except for the ones who were anti-Semitic pro-Nazis and/or the ones who the Germans considered to be racially acceptable, i.e. NOT "sub-human Slavs") as slaves, the Germans weren't quite as popular in the Ukraine. It also didn't help that the German invasion resulted in the Ukraine being devastated by the war and the untold human misery that came with it.

Initially the Ukrainians did see the Nazis as 'liberators'.

They had hoped the Nazis would help them regain their independence from Russia. The Ukrainians remembered how the Russians starved many of them and tried to wipe them off the map.

However, the Nazis were just as evil and soon the Ukrainians turned against the Nazis and looked to the Russian Red Army.

Man, I wish TD had a history board. So much history just in WWII.

Because the USSR was so hellish that ordinary Russians and Ukrainians figured the Germans had to be an improvement. They were badly mistaken.
