This is stupid. The Germans aren't doing anything as long as Russia supplies all that natural gas.
As complex as we tend to make things out to be, they are really very simple. Russia supplies energy to Europe. Winters are very cold. Europe isn't in a position to do shite about Russia.
This is why the USA needs to continue to develop our domestic energy sources and build the fricking keystone pipeline.

If I were the Germans I would tell you to take a hike. They don't owe us shite.
This is such a tired talking point.

You think Germany making some sort of noise wouldn't get Putin's attention?
No b/c Putin would just cut their gas off.

If the majority of Crimeans want to be a part of Russia then I think they should be. Anyone that doesn't like it can move.
Well when armed men come into the parliament and force a 100% vote it is hardly legit. That and the poll numbers will be so jacked up b/c the Russians will stop anyone voting anti Russian and they will use their same tactics when they rigged the Ukrainian presidential election.

Germany isn't going to stand against Russia, it will wind up quite the opposite.

Say Germany mobilizes

What exactly do you think Germany has to mobilize?

I think Stalingrad probably taught the Germans to lay off fighting the Russians for a while.
Naw, this time the wehrmacht would take the oil fields. They learned their lesson: energy > propaganda.
But the consensus seems to be that Germany, and more generally the EU, are too dependent on Russian trade and won't bite the hand that warms them.
So if they don't care, why should we? Why do we talk about our troops before EU troops versus Russia? This is in their backyard, not ours.

80 million people and an industrial powerhouse right on Putins doorstep - and a history of efficiently killing millions of people. Don't discount the Germans. If you don't think a German restructuring of their defense forces wouldn't give Putin pause, think again.
But at what point do the Germans risk losing access to Russian energy resources? That's their call, not ours. I say it's time to follow Germany's lead on this.
