Gender gap question re:GOP strategy

Obviously the gender gap situation rests at the following fact(s): Men in the United States earn more money than women earn, while men and women get paid the same when they do the same jobs and have the same qualifications.

Given this, and given the agenda-driven narrative from the left that women are at a respective disadvantage, why don't GOP legislators introduce and pass a bill mandating equal pay for equal work? Of course it's an ineffective bill, but isn't that a win for the GOP? It solves the perceived problem, and the GOP forever can take credit for solving it.

equal work or value is subjective

2 people can have the same roles and/or titles, but one can be valued more to the company and thus deserve higher pay

The reality is that even when men and women work the same job, men on average work more hours and take far fewer days off. Also, due to the responsibilities of child rearing, women typically have less experience on the job. Men often end up making more because they work more hours, take fewer days off, and typically have more experience.

What GOP lawmakers should do is flank the left by pushing for employers to offer at least a base level of paid parental leave time when a full time employee has a baby. Both fathers and mothers should be eligible, but with the caveat that fathers are only eligible if they are married to the mother.

Or we could fix half the problem by making it easier for men to get equal or primary custody of their children.

Child support is not considered income, even if the guy is paying 1000 a month.

If it were, you would we this mythical gap vanish or maybe even flip

That is so damn subjective the law would have no teeth. But sure, what the hell. Pass the damn law if it makes female lefties happy. But you know it won't.

Sounds like that would open every business up to massive amounts of litigation to solve a "problem" that has no basis in fact

All your proposed solution would do is cause a bunch of stupid people to file a bunch of frivolous lawsuits.

And they would still whinge about the 'gender gap'.

Earning are different then wages.

Should a woman that works 30 hours a week earn the same as a man that works 40 hours a week?

When feminist bark about the wage gap, they are referring to earnings. Which makes no sense.

Women work less than men. Take more sicks days, take more vacation days. Men stay later and arrive earlier.

Because equal pay is already mandated by a whole host of other laws including the Civil Rights Act of 1964

No thanks. I'd rather negotiate for my compensation and the compensation I pay others. I don't want the government setting some standard that negates the ability to negotiate.

Point was that when all things are equal, men and women are paid the same for the same job; there isn't a men's bracket and a women's bracket for compensation for each job position.

The reality is that all isn't equal. Aside from men and women often choosing different careers that result in earnings being different, men and women often have different work ethics and different requirements outside of work that impact their time spent in the office doing their work that will lead to increases in salary and bonuses.

So many issues in this country would be solved if women would go back to being housewives.

I'm not talking about being slaves to their men or not being allowed to work or what have you; but this "men and women are the same" nonsense has destroyed so much of this country.

There's actually about a 3% unexplained pay disparity when factors are equalized. This is what researchers point to as the discriminatory difference.
