It's comical that some people thought they would stop after just removing a few far right websites, just like some thought they would just stop at Confederate statues. Silicon Valley must be stopped.

How do you get into the domain registry business?

Democrats/neo-regressives do not believe in free speech or the free exchange of ideas.

No what's comical is that you don't seem to understand that the free speech here belongs to the people who own the domain, not people who rent server space from them, and further this company is headquartered in Austria, so I'm not even entirely sure they have any guarantee of free speech.

The solution is, of course, simple. Host your own domain the way FaceBook does.

There is no violation of free speech here.

Time to start RICO lawsuits.

Gab is just a legitimate up and coming competitor to Twitter and the internet big boys are trying to shut them down.

Any "sin" you can accuse Gab of, Twitter is also committing, cuz they are the exact same thing.

But Twitter pays penance by virtue signaling by banning accounts that post what they deem as hurtful speech. Gab don't GAF.

From the Onion, back in 2015.

It's more truth than satire at this point.

Gab had 215 thousand users. Twitter has 328 million. I think twitter has bigger issues to worry about than some tiny, niche "competitor."

You're the one that doesn't understand free speech. If a group of non human entities can get together and decide what is acceptable and what isn't, they essentially control the 1st amendmant. If they can decide anything out outside of their window will be shutdown, you don't really have free speech. If they decide that exercising your right to free speech outside of their limits can result in you losing your job and career, and if that makes you too scared to exercise free speech, than you don't really have it. Even if it's not explicitly the government shutting you down, it's still the same principle. And if these few giant tech companies can do that, than no you really don't have free speech.

Who downvoted my common sense post? ignorant fricks.

Here's a question. How can a conservative argue both that a baker has a right to refuse to bake a **** cake AND that this domain registry doesn't have a right to refuse to serve GAB?

Of course the reverse also applies. If you both think it's okay for this domain registry to dump GAB and that bakers should have to bake cakes for gays, you are a stupid motherfricker.

This country is full of morons.

How many users did Twitter have when it started?

Wrong moron. The First Amendment doesn't guarantee you can always say whatever you want with zero rules or limits.

It simply says the government will not interfere with your right to say whatever you want.

This isn't a free speech argument. Now if Congress passed a law forbidding GAB from operating, than you'd have an issue. But you aren't guaranteed a fricking spot on an Austrian server.

Are you saying that companies shouldn't have the right to host who they please?

When these companies essentially become bigger than government and police the 1st amendment, then yes they are violating our rights and should be stopped.

Not many. But it was a novel concept at the time, and has shown to be difficult to monetize despite its popularity. Regardless Gab is not a major competitor by any means.

By compelling private companies to host who the government tells them?

Monopolies crush their potential competitors while they are still small and it's cheaper and easier to do so.

Waiting till Gab potentially grows big and then trying to crush them is much riskier.

I'm saying that up until Charlottesville, there had literally never been a website kicked off the internet outside of seizure from the FBI or court issued warrants for criminal investigations. And since the internet is now the #1 place where people express their ideas and exchange ideas, you can't have giant conglomerates deciding who gets to take part in that exchange of ideas.
