Take a look at the effects of the "War on Poverty" as it nears fifty years of supplying the families with one parent hauling all of the water buckets. Given another twenty years there will be no true black families at all just sperm donors.

More like "Porn Actress Becomes Feminist." Whenever someone uses the word "empowering," I instantly assume the person speaking is completely full of shite. What a bullshite, Oprah word.
The Jezebel-worshipping women are simply justifying their utter superficiality. Prostitution is a cop-out, proven by the level of self-defense its practitioners put up and the fact that they tend not to stop even when they've reached their financial goal.
I'll just keep leaving this here until it gains traction.

This is bullshite. She claims that her family had undergone "significant financial burden" and that she couldn't afford the $60K tuition. Most Duke students get aid for their tuition and, because Duke is one of those universities that has a HUGE endowment and likes to promote diversity in their student population, gives out a LOT of $$$ to students to cover the cost.

There's a gray area where your family is too wealthy to get much financial aid, but not wealthy enough to pay for an elite private education without significant hardship. That's how I ended up at LSU instead of Columbia.

I mean the website and magazine. It's the feminist go-to oracle for excusing their selfish behavior. Stripping is empowering. Wanna be a prostitute? You go girl. It's disappointing because I know really smart women who got into stripping and prostitution despite the fact that they are talented and smart. The only ones who've quit are the ones who found a rich guy to marry. How is that "feminist" or "empowering?" It was a great enabler, but their actions since reflect the very patriarchy they claim to despise.
