The new legislation – The Pause for Safety Act – will include the following provisions:

• One, it would help ensure that families and others can go to court and seek a gun violence prevention order to temporarily stop someone close to them who poses a danger to themselves or others from purchasing a firearm.

• Two, it would help ensure that families and others can also seek a gun violence prevention warrant that would allow law enforcement to take temporary possession of firearms that have already been purchased if a court determines that the individual poses a threat to themselves or others.

• Three, it would help ensure that law enforcement makes full use of all existing gun registries when assessing a tip, warning or request from a concerned family member or other close associate.

This is already available and was not used prior to the CA shooting last month.

I'd be shocked if it made it out of committee.

Waiting for the professional trolls to come in here to tell you all that you are crazy tin foil hat wearing ignoramuses.

I love watching California slowly implode on itself but hate the fact whats wrong with them is contagious.

Isn't that what the left really wants though? They want to take your guns.

Here in Missouri, the Concealed Carry permits are held at the local sheriff's office only. There is no collaboration on that information with other law enforcement. I'm sure Feinstein and Boxer want the Feds to have that info in their database.

It's probably meant to be another step closer to universal registration for all guns.

Me too, but it is still shocking to me that it's even being proposed in the first place.

Wait, wait, wait, didn't our self-proclaimed "independent" VOR (VoiceOfRetardation) come on here and mock people who made the "outlandish" claim that there are Democrat politicians who want to confiscate people's handguns???

MORON.

Intended to score minor political points against the GOP.

This is way overbroad, so no way it goes anywhere, but the left can use it to discredit GOP claims that the focus should be on mental illness.

"we put forth a sensible bill regarding mental health and guns and the NRA-led GOP shot it down"

Well, in MS, you have a separate license for cc, and it's a government issued id. You can use it for identification purposes.

Do you guys think law enforcement should be able to check for cc on the computer before addressing you during a traffic stop?
