This was not an eminent domain issue.
Duh. My point was that I generally side with the people over govt.

There was a recent incident involving BLM and a fellow named Bundy. You may be unaware of that?

Or perhaps you thought BLM stands for Bunch of Local Men?

You mean the part where a rancher thinks he gets to decide the fee for grazing his cattle on public land - and that fee is $0 - ripping off the government to the tune of $1,000,000+? Yeah I've heard about it. Apparently he thinks the Founders intended the government to not own property.

A big foreign company wants to build a solar power plant in the MIDDLE OF THE frickING DESERT - why on EARTH would they want to build it way out there in the middle of fricking nowhere in the heat of the desert - it MUST be a conspiracy!!!

How much do you imagine it would cost to feed 500 head of cattle for over 20 years?

And, by the way, it was we "lefties" who protested the loudest over the Supreme Court's Kelo decision, but you righties who are most prone to approve things like George Bush seizing a man's house in order to enrich himself with a new Texas Rangers stadium.

you mean when Mr. Bush paid way over appraisal value to buy out the house? Just like Mr. Jones did when constructing Jerryworld?

I must give credit where due...if Obama called off the dogs on this one so as to avoid what was likely to be a blood bath, I give him credit for taking the higher road.

I think that the government was actually in the right on this whole issue based on what I know. The had the right to use force to enforce the law it would appear as well.

However, having the right and ability to do something and actually doing it are not one in the same. I am glad this worked out for the better and give Obama credit if he made the call.

What happened, simply, is that the government didn't want anybody to get hurt over a cow issue. The government was not so much impressed with the arms against them but with the stupidity and irresponsibility of the people carrying those arms.

I guess Clinton and Reno had more balls than Obama and Holder. Ruby Ridge and Waco come to mind.

I agree with all of this, but I am suspicious of why the Feds. chose to draw a line in the sand now and in this particular case. And what would they have done if not faced with armed resistance?
