Fox news is about as biased as CNN,

They are a political and news entertainment channel with some straight news mixed in here and there for flavor. That's it.

That's all any of them are.

I wonder if Gowdy will get a chance to address this. I love it when he dresses down government thieves.

so typically when you talk about recurring payments without specifying a time period people will assume 1 year. The OP title did not specify. It makes the amount seem much larger.

WOW, just like newspapers and tv news show do??

But the cupboard is bare!
Well if we're paying out SS to those without a SSN, it probably is bare.

But imagine that; a government program full of waste.

These were not improper or fraudulent benefits. The payments were owed to the beneficiaries. The issue is with their trustees' paperwork.

It is maddening how few people bother to read stories or make any attempt to comprehend them. Any problems this country has with its media pales in comparison to the problem of an intellectually incurious populace.

This is about poor record keeping at SSA, not excess payments.

Yet their "poor record keeping" managed to keep benefits from being paid to my SO's daughter. They held on to about $3,000 for nearly two years, despite having all the records (plus the daughter turning 18 in the process and, thus, now legally entitled to the $$$).

Fox news is about as biased as CNN, but if this is true then there is some swamp to be drained.

It's a published audit you genius.....question is, why wasn't it all over the MSM, besides Fox?

Not sure if serious.

By that statement, there is almost no amount of money worth the effort to save.

We waste so much money, it's futile to save even billions because it's a drop in the bucket.

That's your stance?

Okay? I don't know what that has to do with the implication in this thread, but I believe you. SSA makes plenty of mistakes, most of which have nothing to do with the subject most want to blame.

Without the proper paperwork, there is no way to know whether the payments were fraudulent or improper. That is why it is needed.

Hopefully Gowdy is smart enough to read the report and identify the problem instead of being a jackass.

There is nothing wrong with the beneficiaries' paperwork. Nothing in the audit suggests that even $1 was paid that wasn't owed to them.

The title of the audit is "Individual Representative Payees Who Do Not Have a Social Security Number in the Social Security Administration’s Payment Records."

Individual representative payees are NOT beneficiaries. They are like trustees for minors and invalids who are beneficiaries.

Are people on this board just intentionally obtuse or what?
